Soap viewers were treated to a special crossover episode, Corriedale, earlier this month.

Coronation Street and Emmerdale joined forces for the very first time earlier this month in a special hour-long crossover episode titled Corriedale.
The extended episode, which launched ITV’s new soap power hour scheduling revamp, saw characters from both soaps collide as their lives were dramatically altered by a devastating multi-vehicle crash.
One standout moment featured Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald, played by Simon Gregson, who was left completely stunned after recognising Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma, portrayed by Chris Bisson.
As Steve stumbled towards an ambulance, he spotted Jai caught in traffic caused by the crash. A shocked Steve exclaimed, “No!” prompting his partner Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) to ask, “You okay?”
Steve then added: “I just thought I saw somebody I used to work with. It can’t be. Doesn’t matter.”
The clever exchange was a subtle nod to Chris Bisson’s soap history, as the actor previously played a major role on Coronation Street.
Here, we take a look at the Coronation Street and Emmerdale stars who have appeared in both soaps over the years…
Claire King

Claire King is best known for her long-running role as Kim Tate on Emmerdale, which she has played since 1989. Widely considered one of the soap’s most iconic characters, Kim is often seen as the formidable matriarch of Home Farm.
During a break from Emmerdale between 1999 and 2018, the 63-year-old actress also appeared in Coronation Street, portraying Erica Holroyd from 2014 to 2017.
Sally Ann Matthews

Sally Ann Matthews is best known for her role as Jenny Connor on Coronation Street, which she has played since 1986. Earlier this year, fans were upset when Jenny departed Weatherfield to start a new life in Tenerife.
During a break from Coronation Street between 1993 and 2015, the 55-year-old actress appeared in Emmerdale, portraying Sandra Briggs from 2005 to 2006.
Chris Bisson

Chris Bisson is best known for his role as Jai Sharma on Emmerdale, which he has played since 2009.
Before joining the village, the 50-year-old actor appeared on Coronation Street as Vikram Desai from 1999 to 2002. Vikram was the co-founder of Street Cars alongside Steve McDonald.

Before joining Corrie, the 45-year-old actor appeared in Emmerdale as Ivan Jones from 2005 to 2006.
