EastEnders’ Kitty Castledine isn’t the only familiar face in her family

EastEnders’ Kitty Castledine has been seen enjoying a festive getaway with her famous family.
The 23-year-old actress made her BBC One soap debut as Penny Branning in January 2024, joining her cousin Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) after the pair had been living in Paris.
Soon, they became caught up in a drug smuggling scandal, from which they eventually managed to free themselves.
In August 2024, Penny found herself at the centre of a major disaster when a crowd crush occurred at Peggy’s Bar. As the club manager, she was in charge of ticket sales for the bank holiday event.
Chelsea Fox, played by Zaraah Abrahams, tampered with the booking system in revenge after losing her job, causing dangerous overcrowding at the venue and hospitalising Lauren and Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd), both of whom thankfully survived.

Most recently, Penny had a short-lived romance with Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) before learning he was a suspect in a murder investigation following the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend, Shireen, who was actually killed by Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), according to the Mirror.
On-screen, Penny is part of Walford’s famous Branning family, with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) as her father and notorious womaniser Max (Jake Wood) as her uncle. Off-screen, Kitty comes from a well-known family herself, being the daughter of a celebrated TV presenter and a professional footballer.
Kitty’s mother is Lucy Alexander, known for presenting Homes Under the Hammer and the Channel 4 show A Place in the Sun.

The soap star’s father is former Premier League footballer Stewart Castledine, who spent nine years at Wimbledon and also played for Wycombe in the second tier.
Stewart has appeared on TV as well, presenting BBC One’s Big Strong Boys and Houses Behaving Badly.
Their son, Leo Castledine, 20, is following in his father’s footsteps, currently playing for Huddersfield Town on loan from Premier League side Chelsea. He has also earned five caps for England at the U19 level.

Lucy shared a gorgeous family snap on Instagram with her husband Stew and their children, Kitty and Leo, while enjoying a festive getaway in Yorkshire.
In her caption, Lucy wrote: “Merry Christmas, everyone! A family Christmas spent at the stunning @grantleyhall_ with @kittycastledine @leo.castledine and Stew.”
She added: “What an amazing place and the beautiful @grantleyarms is definitely worth a visit for a pint. Ripon, Yorkshire is a must-see. Can’t wait to go back.”

Friends and fans of Lucy were quick to send their festive greetings, with Loose Women star Ruth Langsford commenting: “Gorgeous family snap! Merry Christmas!”, and Helen Skelton sharing just a love heart emoji.
One fan wrote: “Fabulous photo of you all, Merry Christmas,” while another added: “Stunning family ❤️.”
“Lovely family photo,” chimed one follower, and another exclaimed: “Beautiful family.”
