“Emmerdale viewers are captivated by a new murder mystery after Ray Walters’ body was discovered in Monday’s episode.”

Emmerdale delivered another shocking death on Monday (January 5), as the villainous Ray Walters met his end.
The sinister character had been facing the fallout from his cruel deeds, with the villagers turning against him.
In a chilling scene last week, Ray (Joe Absolom) brutally murdered his own mother, Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths), the mastermind behind their dark drug operation and exploitation of farm workers.
After stabbing Celia, Ray coldly told her lifeless body that he was finally “free.” He had hoped that by eliminating his mother, he could start over, but his plan ultimately backfired.
Ray’s actions earned him many enemies, with Laurel among those who uncovered the truth about his crimes.

Horrified by the abuse that Ray and Celia had inflicted on April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle), Laurel made it clear that their relationship was over and that they would never be together again, according to the Mirror.
Monday’s episode opened with a mysterious body being dragged across the floor, later revealed to be Ray’s lifeless corpse.
This sparked a fresh whodunnit, with no immediate clues about who was responsible or how he had been killed.
The scene showed Ray’s body, eyes still open and partially covered by a bag, being dragged by an unknown figure—likely the killer or an accomplice. It wasn’t until the episode’s climax that hints began to emerge pointing to the identity of Ray’s murderer.

His final expression was one of shock and terror, suggesting he had not anticipated his own downfall.
Viewers were shown a montage of scenes, featuring tearful faces, people attempting to cover their tracks, and seemingly unrelated conversations.
Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) was seen making a phone call, cryptically asking, “Have you done it?”, while Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) was caught hiding his mobile. When Rhona questioned him about his whereabouts, he offered vague excuses.
Meanwhile, Ross Barton (Michael Parr) was shown in a car with the missing April, who reassured him that she would be alright. He promised he “had her back,” but warned that they “better not mention this” to anyone. The exact meaning of “this” remains a mystery.
Ross then glanced at the backseat, where a firearm lay, while Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) was shown cleaning a pair of scissors, her hands trembling as if shaken by recent events.

April later recounted her night in the woods with Ray to Rhona and Marlon. Rhona asked if April was worried that Celia and Ray might come after her, to which Marlon didn’t react when April replied hesitantly, “maybe.”
This suggests they might be unaware that Ray and Celia are already dead, and therefore are not the killers. However, it’s also possible that one of them is pretending to be innocent to hide their guilt.
As April tearfully admitted she was struggling with the thought that she had killed a man—unaware that Callum was still alive—the scene hinted at possible suspects.
Rhona appeared to feel guilty when April mentioned “taking a man’s life,” and the camera then cut to Laurel, who was shown in tears. The sequence then shifted to Ross holding the gun, before finally cutting to Ray’s body in the bag, eyes closed.

Despite the mystery surrounding Ray’s death, viewers are convinced they’ve figured out the killer, with several names being suggested. Suspicions have fallen on Dylan, Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), and even Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke), among others.
Another twist unfolded during the dramatic Corriedale episode when Ray’s body was shown in the back of Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) van. But how it got there remains a mystery.
Emmerdale fans have been sharing their theories online, with one writing: “I feel Dylan killed Ray tbh.”
Another argued: “Guys, Bear killed Ray,” while a third suggested a curveball theory: “Arthur? Jai?”
Elsewhere, a fourth fan proposed an entirely different suspect, asking: “What about Ross?” and another wondered: “Did Laurel stab Ray to death?”
