General Hospital spoilers indicate that Molly Lansing Davis (Kristen Vaganos) is trying to find her footing in a budding romance with Cody Bell (Josh Kelly).
Calling them “meant to be” would be a stretch. In fact, few things have been more uncomfortable to watch than Molly attempting to relax and truly be herself with someone who isn’t TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow). Then again, it raises the question of whether she ever fully managed to do that with TJ either.
Partnership label or not, the core problem in Molly and TJ’s relationship was Molly’s inability to open up emotionally. Now, it seems she may be repeating that same pattern with Cody.
TJ Needed Emotional Connection
TJ ultimately walked away from his domestic partnership with Molly because he felt she had already checked out emotionally.
He was mourning the loss of their child on his own, feeling isolated as he tried to share his grief with Molly. To him, her way of coping felt like avoidance. The loneliness became too much to endure. From Molly’s perspective, she was simply surviving in the only way she knew how, without the emotional capacity to carry both her pain and TJ’s at the same time.
Cody Requires Less — For Now
This isn’t to say TJ was overly demanding — but Cody appears to expect far less. No matter how often Molly pulls back or goes quiet, Cody is still there when she reemerges.
He’s shown remarkable patience, waiting for Molly’s emotional walls to come down. In many ways, Molly isn’t just resisting Cody — she’s resisting confronting who she’s become.
Somewhere along the way, Molly lost touch with herself. Cody seems to bring out a more carefree, playful version of her — one that’s lighter and less serious. But is that immaturity, or just emotional avoidance in disguise?
Molly Is Still Struggling
Make no mistake — Molly’s casual approach to dating doesn’t mean she feels secure. In fact, she comes across as deeply uncertain.
Her interest in Cody seems tied to how much she thinks he wants her — and she often misreads the situation. Given how emotionally distant she was with TJ, there’s little evidence she’s truly changed.
She still retreats the moment she doubts her feelings are returned, jumps to negative conclusions, shuts down instead of communicating, and makes impulsive assumptions that could sabotage the relationship rather than save it.
So the real question remains: is Molly genuinely ready for a new relationship?
