Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher has debuted a striking new look, leaving her fellow soap stars completely charmed.
The gifted actress shot to fame in her role as Nina Lucas, the niece of Roy Cropper (David Neilson), first appearing on the ITV soap in 2019 and quickly becoming a fan favourite.
During her time on the cobbles, Nina has been at the heart of several hard-hitting storylines, most memorably a powerful hate crime plot that earned Mollie widespread praise from critics and a string of awards.
The Salford-born actress’s success on Corrie led to her taking part in Dancing On Ice in 2023, where she impressed viewers alongside professional partner Sylvain Longchambon before the pair became the seventh couple to be eliminated from the competition.
Nina’s character has long been closely associated with a gothic look and bold styling, with her trademark dark hair gradually giving way to a platinum blonde shade in recent years, according to The Mirror.
However, Mollie has now opted for another eye-catching transformation, much to the delight of her fans. Taking to Instagram, she shared that she had decided to go back to her darker roots, swapping her blonde locks for a sleek black style.
The soap star posted a stunning mirror selfie from her Corrie dressing room, proudly showing off her fresh new look. She captioned the snap: “New year old me xoxo. Hair colour and extensions by the best hair transformer @hairspecialistkyle.”
“Today’s look by @alexh_artistry_.” Similarly, Mollie’s hairstylist Kyle shared a TikTok clip highlighting her dramatic transformation, captioning it: “TV STAR NINA FROM CORONATION STREET MAKES A HUGE CHANGE!”
He added: “Mollie – what an absolute joy it is to know you. You’re such a vibe and definitely someone I now consider a friend. Nina’s real name is Mollie, and you might have noticed she’s been blonde for a while. After working with a few different stylists, the bleach had really taken its toll on her hair.”
Kyle went on: “When this happens, people often assume going dark will fix it with the hope of eventually returning to blonde. The reality is, your hair will be darker but still damaged.”
“However, if this is a true commitment and the start of a whole new chapter, going darker will definitely help. Mollie is serving full witch energy, and I am here for it.”
Unsurprisingly, Mollie’s co-stars and fans were stunned by her dramatic transformation. Sally Carman, who plays Abi Webster, commented on Instagram: “Beautiful girl.” Harriet Bibby, known for her role as Summer Spellman, added: “I’m obsessed.”
Fans were equally impressed, with one writing: “You look stunning, Mollie.” Another enthused: “WOW, that colour really suits you, keep it!” A third admirer noted: “The dark hair makes your eyes pop brilliantly.”
