Coronation Street producer reveals when fans will learn Jodie’s connection to Emmerdale’s Graham

Posted on January 11, 2026

Coronation Street executive Kate Brooks has confirmed that viewers will soon learn what happened with Graham holding Jodie in his van and how they are connected

Fans are about to learn the connection between Coronation Street newcomer Jodie and returning Emmerdale character Graham Foster.

Their link, and what brought them together in the Corriedale crossover, will be revealed on screen, with major twists leading into a significant spring storyline on Corrie.

Soap boss Kate Brooks has confirmed that viewers will discover why Graham had Jodie tied up in his van, what caused their paths to cross, and why Jodie was forced to flee for her life before PC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) found her.

Brooks explained: “We’ll reference what happened, reveal exactly why she was in that van, and show her connection to Graham. We’ll uncover what went on between them, how Jodie ended up running for her life, and what Graham’s role was in it all. It’s a storyline that will grow really big as we move into spring and summer.”

It has also been confirmed that Jodie is related to Shona Platt—she is Shona’s sister. When the siblings are finally reunited after years apart, the soap will delve into Shona’s history, according to The Mirror.

Graham’s return from the dead remains a mystery. Originally killed off on Emmerdale in 2020, his sudden reappearance and the revelation that he’s alive has left viewers scratching their heads.

Some fans believe they may have figured out how he faked his death, possibly with the help of another character. Others speculate it might not even be the real Graham.

One viewer suggested, “Maybe Graham isn’t Graham,” while another pointed out, “Someone said the subtitles named him Bruce!?!” A third chimed in, “Maybe it’s his twin brother? Last time we saw Graham, he was definitely dead.”

Meanwhile, other fans think his former flame Rhona Goskirk—or possibly Kim Tate—could have masterminded a secret plan to help him escape the village.

On social media, one fan theorised: “My headcanon is that after Pierce ‘killed’ him, Graham pretended to be dead.

“Off-screen, he contacts people to apply makeup to make his body pale, so he appears deceased. Even that seems like a stretch, but I have no idea how they’ll justify keeping Graham alive.”

Another viewer added: “I’ve never been this confused in my life because he was definitely dead.

“I’ve seen some suggest it might not actually be Graham, maybe a twin. Another theory, as you said, is a faked death—but maybe someone like Kim was involved?”
