Debbie Webster keeps protecting her brother Carl in Monday’s Coronation Street episode.
On Monday’s episode of Coronation Street, Debbie Webster faced the anger of her brother Kevin Webster after she continued to protect their other sibling, Carl Webster.
Carl has had a turbulent time on the cobbles, having had an affair with his sister-in-law Abi Webster, nearly killing Tyrone Dobbs in a hit-and-run, and stealing money from Debbie, who is living with dementia.
Last week, during the Corriedale scenes, Carl tried to flee Debbie and Ronnie Bailey’s wedding to Germany after his lies finally caught up with him.
Debbie, well over the legal drinking limit, tried to stop him as she got into the car—but Carl drove off with both of them inside. He ended up crashing into a pile-up caused when Emmerdale’s John Sugden collided with Becky Swain during the crossover event.
After the crash, Carl attempted to move an unconscious Debbie into the driver’s seat as he tried to escape, before ultimately collapsing himself.
Carl was later rushed to the hospital, where Kevin warned him that he knew all of his secrets—including moving their sister into the driver’s seat—but Debbie continued to stand by her younger brother, who smugly denied the accusations.
Meanwhile, on Monday’s episode, Ryan Connor grew concerned about the finances of the Chariot Square Hotel, hinting that Carl might have misappropriated money from both Debbie and the business account.
Debbie was quick to defend Carl, which only enraged Kevin. He confronted his sister, urging her to “open her eyes” and reminding her that Carl is both a liar and a thief.
Debbie, however, yelled at Kevin to “shut up,” warning him not to force her to choose between the two, insisting he wouldn’t like the outcome.
Taking to social media, fans of the soap believe the real reason Debbie is protecting Carl is that she may actually be his secret biological mother.
