Michelle Hardwick from Emmerdale announces thrilling new professional move outside the ITV soap
Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has announced an exciting new project alongside a Coronation Street favourite. The 49-year-old actress joined the long-running ITV soap in 2012 as village vet Vanessa Woodfield, who is also Tracy Robinson’s (Amy Walsh) half-sister.
Over the years, Vanessa has been at the heart of numerous dramatic storylines, including a cancer diagnosis, a romance with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), and a terrifying kidnapping by villain Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather).
She was also caught up in last year’s tragic limo crash, which claimed the lives of Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson), Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), and Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).
Now, Michelle is taking on a new role in the short film Through The Eyes of Bairns, which explores what it’s like to grow up in the shadow of domestic abuse, according to the Mirror.

On Monday (January 12), Michelle shared several behind-the-scenes photos from the film set on her Instagram Story, captioning them: “Loved this shoot.”
She also reshared a post from the film’s official Instagram account, which read: “Block one of filming: done,” accompanied by a clapperboard emoji. The post added: “So proud of the incredible cast and crew behind Through The Eyes of Bairns. The energy, teamwork, and passion on set have been amazing. More filming next weekend, and we can’t wait to share more.”
Michelle’s on-screen spouse is played by fellow soap actress Krissi Bohn, who previously appeared on Coronation Street as Jenna Kamara from 2012 to 2014.
Fans have shown their support for the project, with one writing: “Looks amazing!!” Another added: “What an amazing team,” while many others reacted with heart emojis to show their approval.

This comes after the heartbreaking news that Michelle and her wife, Kate Brooks, suffered a family loss with the passing of their beloved dog, Fred.
Sharing the news on Instagram last week, Michelle wrote: “Our hearts are truly broken tonight, our house is not the same. Our Fred, our protector, lost his fight this morning.
We had seven years with this incredible little guy; he was such a warrior. No more suffering now—run free, our beautiful Fred. You’ll be missed more than you’ll ever know, but we’ll talk about you every single day. We love you so, so much.”
Meanwhile, Michelle’s Emmerdale character Vanessa has faced a turbulent period in the Dales. She discovered that Charity Dingle was expecting her own child, not her granddaughter Sarah Sugden’s (Katie Hill), and informed Charity’s husband, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), that he could be the father—unaware that Ross Barton (Michael Parr) is actually the biological dad.
