Maurice Benard from General Hospital (GH), who portrays Sonny Corinthos, took to social media to announce the arrival of another grandchild. Keep reading to meet the adorable new family member.
A New Addition
The exciting news broke on Facebook on January 13. Maurice shared a reel set to a song by The Carpenters, and he wore a Carpenters shirt gifted to him by his daughter.
The audio wasn’t very clear, but it sounded like he was announcing either a grandson or granddaughter—most likely a granddaughter. Regardless, fans of the ABC soap were thrilled for him.
Then, the real-life Sonny Corinthos shared, “I wanted to introduce my grand[indistinct],” adding, “her name is Mina.” The camera then showed a baby with dark hair. He greeted her warmly, saying, “Hi baby,” and when she smiled, he teased, “You like me, don’t you?” His social media post included the caption:
ABC Fans Were Thrilled
Unsurprisingly, General Hospital fans flooded the post with congratulations and best wishes. One fan wrote, “Hi beautiful Mina! She’s hanging on your every word, Grandpa, and the love on your face is priceless. Longtime fan here—I just love you, Maurice Benard!”

Who Welcomed the New Baby?
Interestingly, Mina didn’t appear to be a newborn. She may have arrived a few months ago. It’s unclear which of Maurice’s children is her parent, though some speculate it could be Cassidy, who became engaged to Anthony Cammarata in Japan last April.
Maurice Benard’s other daughters, Cailey and Heather, are parents to his other three grandchildren: Eloise, Tiana, and Milo. Naturally, fans had hoped Cassidy might also have a child, but this is just speculation. Perhaps Maurice will share more details about Mina in the future.
Of course, Mina might not be Cassidy’s child—Anthony’s recent Instagram posts only mentioned his nephew Milo, and Joshua Benard, 21, doesn’t appear to have a baby yet.
