Natalie Ann Jamieson is widely known for her role as Amy Barton in Emmerdale

On Emmerdale, Amy Barton shared a touching on-screen marriage with her husband Matty (Ash Palmisciano), while off-screen, actress Natalie Ann Jamieson has enjoyed a long-term relationship with her partner, Ali Ward.
The 37-year-old actress first arrived in the Dales in 2019, taking on the role of Kerry Wyatt’s (Laura Norton) biological daughter, who had been fostered by Val (Charlie Hardwick) and Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell).
During her time on the ITV soap, Amy was central to several dramatic storylines, including placing her son Kyle (Huey Quinn) up for adoption and marrying Matty, before her tragic death last year.
The much-loved character died after suffering a cardiac arrest caused by severe hypothermia following the devastating limo crash. The dramatic storyline saw Amy fall into freezing waters, where she discovered Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) body, while Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) and Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) also lost their lives.
In October 2025, a coroner’s inquest into the crash concluded that the deaths of Amy, Leyla and Suzy were accidental, according to The Mirror.

Away from Emmerdale, Natalie has been in a relationship with her partner Ali Ward for 14 years. The actress tends to keep her private life out of the spotlight and rarely speaks about her romance, though she occasionally shares glimpses of their time together on Instagram.
Recently, Natalie posted a cheerful selfie of the couple taken on Christmas Day, captioning it: “Merry Christmas one and all! Have a GORGEOUS day… I hope Santa has been good to you all?? Lotsa love.”
Although she seldom discusses her relationship publicly, Natalie has previously said that marriage isn’t something she and Ali are planning just yet.

Speaking to The Mirror in 2024, Natalie explained: “I’m a very practical person and have always thought I wouldn’t go for a traditional white wedding dress, but rather one I could wear again. When people tell me how much they’ve spent on a wedding, I think, ‘You could probably travel around the world twice with that money.’”
The Geordie actress also shared a funny moment when talking about leap day traditions in relation to her Emmerdale wedding, saying: “It’s funny because leap day fell the day before I was filming my Emmerdale wedding. I replied, ‘They’ve just been saying on the news that it’s a really outdated tradition. Besides, I’m getting married tomorrow at Emmerdale. One wedding is enough for now.’”
On the show, Natalie’s character Amy married Matty in April 2024 in a heartfelt ceremony at Home Farm. However, their happiness was short-lived—Matty soon ended up in prison for stabbing Samson Dingle (Sam Hall), and just a few months later, Amy tragically died.

Nine months after her emotional exit from Emmerdale, Natalie embarked on an exciting new project. The actress recently took part in a staged reading of a play at The Tute Cambois in the North East.
But that’s not all—Natalie has also launched her own T-shirt line, By Nat Jam, which she shared with fans through a series of Instagram posts. Accompanying a video showcasing her embroidered shirts, Natalie explained the inspiration behind the venture:
“Why am I making tees? Well, lots of reasons, and I’ll do some videos for you about that, but mostly for FUN!” she wrote.
“I’m lucky enough to do something I love as an actor, and I never want to let that go—so I’m bringing that passion into all aspects of my life! Do what you love, enjoy it, and make people smile.”
