“Coronation Street’s Megan has stunned ITV viewers with her wicked plotline, but who is the actress Beth Nixon?”

Coronation Street’s Megan has certainly made waves since arriving on the cobbles, but who is the talented actress bringing the villainous character to life?
Beth made her debut on the ITV soap last year, playing the athletics coach of young Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), who moved from Hull to Weatherfield with his family. This included his father Ben (Aaron McCusker), grandmother Maggie (Pauline McLynn), and Ben’s girlfriend Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley), who returned to the street after a seven-year absence.
It was later revealed that Megan had been secretly grooming 16-year-old Will for months prior to the move. The character has also sparked a romance with fellow teacher Daniel Osborne (Rob Mallard), according to Mirror.
This week, the soap delivered another shock, unveiling that Megan is pregnant. With more drama unfolding on the long-running show, let’s take a closer look at the life of newcomer Beth Nixon…
Beth’s career before Coronation Street

Hailing from York, 25-year-old Beth studied drama at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester. While chasing her dream of becoming an actress, she balanced her ambitions with a day job, managing a skin clinic when she auditioned for Coronation Street.
When she learned she had landed the role of the sinister Megan, Beth—who had also spent several years working as a waitress—was overcome with emotion.
“I was at work when my agent called me. I was upstairs while my colleague watched the desk, and when he told me I’d got the part, everyone in the clinic could hear me screaming and then I cried. It’s been four years since I graduated, and this is my first TV role,” she told York College.
Beth added: “It’s been a tough journey, and I was really close to giving up, taking a normal job, and pursuing a different career. This came at exactly the right moment, just when I needed it.”
Beth on working with her actor ex-boyfriend

Coronation Street marks Beth’s first television role. Prior to joining the soap, she had taken part in “a few plays and radio voiceovers” and even appeared in a McDonald’s commercial in Switzerland alongside her actor ex-boyfriend.
“I was flown out there for four days, filmed the advert, and thought it was the coolest thing ever—getting paid to eat McDonald’s all day in Switzerland!” she told York College.
“The job was with my ex, and we were sitting in a car park. The advert was about me finding those few chips that always get left at the bottom of the bag. I’ve also done some plays and radio work, but nothing major until this role.”
Beth auditioned for Coronation Street twice before landing the part.

It turns out that Beth came very close to joining Coronation Street before landing the role of Megan, nearly securing a different character. “This is my first TV job, but it’s not the first time I’ve auditioned for Corrie,” Beth previously revealed.
She explained: “I auditioned for the part of Lauren Bolton, and then for a girl who was giving Lauren a hard time at the mother and baby unit. My agent later called to tell me about this role and asked if I wanted to audition.”
The role of Lauren ultimately went to actress Cait Fitton, who debuted in 2022 and has remained a regular on the show ever since.
