“Kelvin Fletcher opens up about his emotions regarding his Emmerdale return ahead of a new TV series.”

Posted on January 18, 2026

“Ex-Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz appeared on James Martin’s Saturday Morning, where he was questioned about a potential return to the ITV soap.”

Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher has embraced a very different life since leaving the ITV soap that made him a household name.

Kelvin, who played Andy Sugden for 20 years, departed Emmerdale in 2016. Fans watched as Andy was framed for Lawrence White’s shooting by Chrissie White, forcing him to flee custody and go on the run with a fake passport to avoid conviction.

Today, in what some might see as life imitating art, Kelvin and his wife Liz live on a farm with their four young children. Their family life is captured on the ITV series Fletchers’ Family Farm, which is set to return for a fourth season.

Ahead of the new series, Kelvin, who turns 42 this weekend, and Liz appeared on James Martin’s Saturday Morning on January 17. They discussed their “chaotic” daily life, and James was eager to know whether Kelvin missed the soap and might consider a return.

“Do you ever miss your old life? I mean, you did 2,000 episodes. When you put it like that, that’s a huge number,” James asked.

Kelvin replied, “No, I don’t. Emmerdale was 20 happy years, but not a day goes by that I really think about it. It’s a past chapter, and I’ve very much moved on. It’s funny, like I’ve said before, how life’s imitating art.”

James then asked if his character had been killed off or if there was any chance of a return to the Dales.

“I think I’m on the run, probably in Spain,” Kelvin joked. “So I could always come back having trained as a chef… with a bit of a tan!”

For now, however, Kelvin and Liz are focused on the fourth series of Fletchers’ Family Farm, which follows their adventures on their Peak District farm.

Liz teased what fans can expect this season, saying: “We’re bringing pigs back this time—we’d taken a little break from them because they can be a bit tricky, but we missed them, so they’re back. Just more farm chaos, really!”

They also revealed that previous series would be re-run on ITV1 in the 7:30pm weeknight slot, now vacated by Emmerdale as it moves to a later time.

“We’re basically the new Emmerdale,” Liz joked. “On Monday nights, they’ll show shorter versions of series one, two, and three.” Kelvin added, “It’s a bit of a catch-up, a bit of a rejig, so if you’ve been under a rock the past couple of years, this is what you’ve missed.”
