GH’s Chris McKenna Reminds Fans of His Role on ‘Lucifer’

Posted on January 18, 2026

Before joining General Hospital as Jack Brennan, Chris McKenna took on a variety of other roles. This past weekend, he reminded his ABC followers that he also appeared on the Netflix series Lucifer.

A Reminder About Ben Rivers
If you’ve watched Lucifer, you’ll know Tom Ellis starred as Lucifer Morningstar from 2016 to 2021. But for newer GH fans, you might not realize that Chris McKenna guest-starred on the show as a detective—coincidentally, just like his role on General Hospital.

Over the weekend, Chris McKenna took to his Instagram stories to remind fans that he had appeared on Lucifer. The episode was likely filmed in 2016 but aired in 2017, with Chris playing the role of Ben Rivers.

The Ben Rivers Storyline
In the episode, Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt), a powerful demon who worked with Lucifer, had grown fond of Ben and tried to help him. Ben had been shot by some criminals, but the bullet remained lodged in his body. One of his memorable lines was, “I don’t belong to anyone.” Talking about the bullet, he quipped, “Oh, you know what, I’ve grown kind of attached to it. I think I’m gonna keep it.” Chris McKenna injected humor into the otherwise dark storyline.

At the time, fans were captivated by Lucifer, who constantly straddled the line between good and evil but never fully shook off his darker persona.

Because Chris shared the reminder via Instagram stories rather than his main profile, fans couldn’t comment directly. However, years ago—long before he joined GH as Jack Brennan—viewers expressed their love for the role. On the r/lucifer subreddit, users praised the chemistry between Ben and Mazikeen and hoped the character would return. One fan wrote: “I totally agree they were perfect together, I hope he comes back in a future episode.”

Unfortunately, Chris appeared in just that single episode. When the series ended, many fans were disappointed it was over. Afterward, Chris went on to appear as Marc Rothman on Good Trouble and was also known for his role as Mark Harding on The Young and The Restless.

Now, he plays Jack Brennan on General Hospital, a character that many ABC fans love.
