Coronation Street viewers believe they’ve uncovered Theo Silverton’s disturbing true intentions toward Todd Grimshaw following Monday’s camera twist.
Earlier this week, the popular ITV soap aired a specially produced episode focused on Todd and Theo’s harrowing domestic abuse storyline. Theo arrived on the cobbles earlier this year as Todd’s new love interest, but it didn’t take long for his darker side to emerge.
Theo soon began manipulating Todd, attempting to control every aspect of his life and deliberately isolating him from the people closest to him. In recent episodes, the abuse escalated into physical violence in deeply unsettling scenes.
Fearing what Theo might do next, a terrified Todd installed hidden cameras around their home. Monday’s episode was told entirely through the lens of various recording devices, including Todd’s secret camera, CCTV footage, dashcam clips, video doorbell recordings and police body-worn cameras, with flashbacks revealing what truly happens behind closed doors.
After a series of distressing scenes showing Theo’s ongoing manipulation and abuse, Todd finally reached breaking point and confronted his partner after discovering Theo had been secretly tracking his movements.
During the explosive confrontation, Theo attempted to attack Todd after Todd announced he was ending the relationship and demanded Theo stop his behaviour immediately and leave the flat.
Theo lashed out, calling Todd “vile,” before shoving him. Todd reacted instinctively, pushing Theo away, which caused him to crash into a coffee table and lie still. After hearing the disturbance, concerned Weatherfield residents alerted the police. Todd was arrested at the scene, while Theo was taken to hospital.
Despite what had happened, Todd refused to reveal the truth, insisting it had been an accident. In a disturbing turn of events, Theo was treated as the victim, with officers even giving him information about domestic abuse support.
Both men later returned home, where Theo continued to manipulate Todd. The situation took an even darker turn when Theo discovered the hidden surveillance equipment Todd had installed.
In Tuesday’s episode, Todd was shown staring at the damaged cameras as Theo joked about whether he was getting rid of the evidence. Later, Todd’s former stepfather and boss, George Shuttleworth, stopped by to check that everything was alright.
Theo invited George and Christina Boyd over for lunch, while Todd sat silently, visibly anxious. When George asked if everything was alright, Theo claimed he had been drunk and insisted that Todd had confronted him with hurtful remarks, framing the incident as nothing more than an accident.
After lunch, Todd confronted Theo, expressing his frustration at the constant lying and telling him he was the one who had caused the altercation. In response, Theo accused Todd of gaslighting him and rewriting history to make him feel insane, before storming off to the bedroom with his laptop.
A short time later, Theo returned, claiming he had footage proving Todd had started everything. He played back the previous night’s video — which he had heavily edited — showing only Todd pushing him into the coffee table.
Todd immediately called out Theo for tampering with the footage, noting that it must have taken him hours to edit and asking if he had done it the night before. Theo once again manipulated Todd, suggesting he could get help for his “issues,” to which Todd firmly replied that he wasn’t the one who needed help.
On social media, fans speculated that Theo had always known about the hidden cameras and had staged the altercation to frame Todd. One fan wrote, “I think Theo knew about the cameras and set Todd up,” while another added, “Watching last night, it seemed like Theo knew about the cameras — that’s why he played the victim and tried to make Todd look like the abuser.”
