EastEnders fans are buzzing over the possibility of Sam Mitchell starting a romance with a local Walford resident.
EastEnders fans are speculating that Sam Mitchell could be entering a new romantic storyline.
Sam, played by Kim Medcalf, returned to Walford in December and was later diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a lump. She is now set to undergo a lumpectomy, with her prognosis looking hopeful.
In Tuesday’s episode of the BBC One soap (January 20), Ricky Branning (Frankie Day) organised a surprise birthday party for Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) at Raymond’s request. However, the celebrations were overshadowed by Ricky’s worry that his mother, Sam, might be planning to leave Walford again.
In reality, Sam had a hospital appointment ahead of her surgery and has not yet told her son about her breast cancer diagnosis.
George Knight, played by Colin Salmon, found Sam alone in the Square’s gardens holding a letter about her lumpectomy and encouraged her to be honest with Ricky, reports OK!.
Taking George’s supportive advice, Sam returned home and finally told Ricky about her diagnosis and upcoming surgery, with Ricky promising to stand by her.
Later in the episode, Sam thanked George outside her house, unaware that Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) was observing them closely from afar.
As viewers know, Nicola is expecting George’s child and appears to have romantic feelings for the former boxer. However, her ex-brother-in-law, Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), recently warned George to stay away from her.
George also shares a close friendship with Sam’s brother, Phil, giving him an existing connection to the family. Could he end up involved with another Mitchell woman?
Many EastEnders fans think he might win Sam’s heart, potentially leaving Nicola furious.
