EastEnders icons Jessie Wallace and Michelle Ryan have teased the soap’s Christmas Day special

EastEnders stars Jessie Wallace and Michelle Ryan have teased a dramatic Christmas Day episode.
In a recent interview, Jessie, 54, who plays Kat Slater, and Michelle, 41, who returned this year as Zoe Slater after a 20-year hiatus, gave fans a tantalising insight into what’s to come.
Michelle said: “These are the best scripts I’ve ever read and been part of in EastEnders. Even the two-hander we did was special, and for me, these episodes are right up there alongside that.”
Jessie added: “They’re brilliant. It’s one thing after another — just when you think you’ve caught your breath, something else happens. It’s like, ‘hold on a minute, that just happened,’ and it’s pure chaos.”
She continued: “As actors, there’s so much going on. We obviously can’t reveal everything — there’s action happening here, something else there, someone over there — so you’re constantly juggling it all. It’s an explosion of activity,” reports OK!.

The veteran actress added: “I’ve never been part of a Christmas episode like this before.”
Discussing her reunion with her on-screen daughter Michelle, Jessie said: “It’s wonderful having Michelle back. I’ve hoped for years that she’d return — not that I didn’t want her to do other things — but working with her again is just brilliant.
“It’s like seeing a family member you haven’t seen in years — you just click immediately. We work so well together, and I really hope the audience loves it.”
Michelle responded: “I don’t want to get emotional, but working with Jessie is incredible. Coming back and feeling so supported makes it so easy, and our on-screen relationship feels…
“I was thinking the other day, it’s not just a highlight of my career, but having someone like her in your corner, working so well together, it’s amazing.
“We just click so well, and these episodes — I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about them. It’s brilliant.”

Jessie hinted at the significance of the episodes, saying: “It feels very special. I’ve never said that before, but it really does feel very special.”
The comments come as EastEnders stunned viewers earlier this week by revealing that Zoe’s daughter is not only alive but has also arrived in Albert Square. Since Michelle’s return to the BBC soap as Zoe this year, her character has been desperately searching for her missing son after giving birth to twins back in 2006.
While Zoe had believed her baby daughter died shortly after birth and assumed her now-adult son was out there somewhere, Monday’s episode delivered a shocking twist. After asking a colleague to investigate files on babies abandoned nearly two decades ago, Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey) discovered that Zoe had actually delivered twins — and realised he must be their father.
Anthony’s co-worker also revealed a note confirming that Zoe’s daughter had been revived after Zoe left the hospital, proving the child was still alive.
Later scenes introduced newcomer Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) at a police station, where she told a detective she had come to Albert Square searching for her mother. She then pointed to a photo of Zoe in a newspaper…
