Emmerdale’s Celia faces her downfall after explosive family confrontation

Posted on December 17, 2025

Emmerdale’s Celia Daniels turned on her son Ray Walters during Wednesday’s episode

Emmerdale fans believe they may have uncovered Celia Daniels’ downfall following a violent family confrontation.

ITV soap viewers will be aware that April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) has reluctantly been dealing drugs for Celia (Jaye Griffiths) and her son Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) in a desperate bid to clear her boyfriend Dylan Penders’ (Fred Kettle) debt.

The pair’s crimes don’t stop there, as Celia and Ray have also been running an illegal slave operation at their farm, with Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) among those being held captive.

April has recently opened up to her parents, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and Rhona Goskirk (Zoë Henry), about the terrifying ordeal she’s been living through. In retaliation, Ray ran Dylan down with his car, leaving him in a coma — though the teenager has only just regained consciousness at Hotten General.

Elsewhere, Ray has begun a relationship with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), who is completely unaware of his dark side.

During Wednesday’s episode (November 17), now available to stream on ITVX, Ray’s two worlds collided when Celia joined him and Laurel for dinner.

It quickly became apparent that Celia was using the meal as a power move, with Ray begging her to be kind to Laurel. After witnessing the growing bond between her son and Laurel, Celia grew concerned that Ray was becoming too emotionally involved.

Determined to drive a wedge between them, Celia portrayed Ray as a manipulative and emotionally distant womaniser. A shaken Laurel later asked Ray to leave as she struggled to decide whether their relationship could continue.

Ray later confronted Celia after Laurel brushed him off, only for his mother to assert her dominance.

After violently slapping him across the face, Celia warned: “You think she’s going to make your life easier? She won’t, because you need someone to keep you grounded, someone who stops you from drifting off into these fantasies of yours.

“She doesn’t really know you. She doesn’t want you the way you think she does, because you are weak, Ray. You’re so weak — you need someone telling you when to speak, how to feel, how to exist.

“Aren’t you lucky I’m still here doing exactly that? Cry if you must, my boy, but wipe your face before anyone sees. They already pity you. Let’s not give them another reason.”

Celia then walked away, leaving a tearful Ray to vent his frustration by punching a nearby wall. After watching the intense scenes, many Emmerdale fans believe this could be the breaking point for Ray, and that he may finally turn against his sinister mother in upcoming episodes.

“Ray is definitely turning on Celia after that outburst,” one viewer commented on a Facebook fan page.

Another added: “Yeah, Celia is going down. Ray can’t just let her slap him and get away with it,” while a third wrote: “I really think Ray wants to change and actually cares about Laurel. He has to confront Celia soon.”

A fourth fan speculated: “What if Ray kills Celia over Christmas? That would be amazing!”
