Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard shares health update after securing new role on Fair City

Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard has been met with an outpouring of support from fans after sharing an update about her latest soap role.
The 68-year-old actress first rose to prominence in the 1980s playing Liz McDonald on the ITV soap. Liz made her debut on the cobbles in 1989 alongside the McDonald clan, including her son Steve, portrayed by Simon Gregson.
Over the next 30 years, Beverley became a cornerstone of the show, taking centre stage in countless major storylines. From passionate romances to fiery confrontations, Liz’s time on the Street was never short of drama.
However, fans were left heartbroken in 2019 when Beverley revealed she would be leaving the show, with Liz ultimately saying her goodbyes to Weatherfield a year later.

Since leaving Coronation Street, Beverley has continued to keep busy. In 2020, she appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and later landed a spin-off travel show alongside fellow campmate Jordan North, according to the Mirror.
More recently, Beverley has made a return to soap acting after being cast in the Irish drama Fair City, where she plays Lily, the long-lost mother of Gwen.
The actress is currently based in Ireland filming the series and has been keeping fans updated via Instagram. However, earlier this week, Beverley shared a post on the platform revealing that she hasn’t been feeling well, sparking concern among her followers.
In a video shared with fans, Beverley said she was having an amazing time in Dublin and working incredibly hard. She explained that she’d been filming back-to-back scenes in the studio and was thoroughly enjoying herself, praising the cast and crew as “brilliant.” However, she added that there was one downside to it all.
Laughing at herself, Beverley revealed she’d come down with a heavy cold and joked that she was certain the reason was a lack of something essential. She then held up a box of Yorkshire Tea bags, suggesting the absence of her favourite brew was to blame.

She continued by saying she wasn’t promoting anything, but admitted she simply can’t function without Yorkshire Tea — and it isn’t available where she’s working. Joking about her situation, Beverley added that she only had two tea bags left and blamed that shortage for her cold. She then asked her followers if anyone could tell her where to find Yorkshire Tea in Dublin.
Alongside the video, Beverley wrote that she was having a wonderful time in Dublin, but was suffering with a bad cold and craving a proper cup of tea, adding her frustration at being unable to find Yorkshire Tea anywhere.
Fans were quick to respond with messages of support. One person wished her a speedy recovery, while another urged her to get well soon. Others encouraged her to enjoy herself and hoped the cold would pass quickly.
