General Hospital spoilers suggest that Willow Tait Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) may not remember shooting Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). It’s possible she could be experiencing dissociative identity disorder (DID), meaning an alternate personality might have been responsible for the shooting without her conscious awareness.
Could Willow Have an Alter?
Willow’s memory of shooting Drew might be missing, and she’s been on a downward spiral for some time. It’s possible she did shoot him but genuinely cannot recall the moment. Longtime One Life to Live fans will remember the DID storyline involving Vicki Buchanan/Niki Smith (Erika Slezak).
Raised in a cult, Willow was once loved by everyone until she betrayed Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) by being unfaithful with Drew. She also gave false information to authorities about her whereabouts on the night Drew was shot — leaving the door open for the possibility that an alternate personality, or “alter,” committed the act.
A Familiar DID Plotline
Fans of One Life to Live will recall that Vicki/Niki had DID, which involves at least two distinct personality states. Childhood trauma was a key factor in that storyline — and Willow, with her traumatic upbringing in a cult, could be facing something similar.
When Willow first arrived in Port Charles, she was sweet and innocent, beloved by everyone. Even when she cheated on Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), it was mostly overlooked. She went on to become a devoted mother to Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver), fell in love with Michael, and bravely battled cancer while pregnant — proving her strength.
But Drew Cain’s arrival changed everything. He influenced her to cheat on her husband and make questionable choices regarding her children — or was it another version of Willow taking over?
Drew’s Impact and Willow’s Realization
Drew ultimately destroyed Willow’s life, and it took time for her to face the truth. This realization, combined with her cult-like upbringing, could have fractured her psyche, creating a new persona — one that may have been responsible for shooting Drew.
She misled authorities about her location that night, omitting that she had been seen near Drew’s residence. When questioned, she insisted she never entered the house. It’s possible that an alternate personality was the one who went inside and pulled the trigger, which would explain why Willow maintains her claims of innocence.
