Coronation Street’s Lou Michaelis, absent since July last year, is reportedly making a comeback.

A Coronation Street actor has shared a post for the first time since news broke that they are set to make a dramatic return to the cobbles.
Troublemaker and mother-of-three Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) arrived in Weatherfield in February 2025 alongside her violent husband Mick (Joe Layton). After moving into Mawdsley Street, the troublesome pair quickly stirred up chaos among their new neighbours.
It later emerged that Lou had been a victim of domestic abuse, with Mick frequently acting violently towards his family. In a shocking turn of events in May, Mick brutally murdered soap favourite Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) during a drunken rampage.
Lou’s own shocking behaviour was also revealed when she attacked Gary Windass (Miley North) with a metal pole after he refused to go along with her desperate plot to extort money from him.

Her secret was eventually exposed, leading to her imprisonment, with her last appearance airing in July. Her children – Brody (Ryan Mulvey), Joanie, and Shanice – were placed in the care of Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Tim (Joe Duttine) Metcalfe.
It has now been reported that Lou is set to return to the cobbles. A source told The Sun: “Farrel is a favourite with the bosses – she turned what could have been a one-note villain into a classic Corrie character. Bringing her back was an obvious choice. There’s also potential for her to return full-time in the future.”

Just hours later, actress Farrel took to her Instagram Story to share a video with her fans. In the clip, she was seen walking to the gym in rainy and windy conditions. She greeted her followers, saying: “Good morning! It’s my birthday. What a beautiful day for it,” while panning to the cloudy sky above.
She then quipped: “The sun is shining, I’ll put on my factor 30 later, have a lie on the beach, celebrate!” Laughing, Farrel added: “And yet here I am on my way to the gym – why did I do that?!”

Meanwhile, last year, a Coronation Street writer seemingly hinted at Lou’s return. Speaking on the Stateside podcast, Jan McVerry said: “We introduced the Michaelis family, Lou and Mick – it was explosive right from the start.
“The viewers weren’t fans of them, but they brought a lot of drama and left a strong legacy with Brody.” She added: “This isn’t the end for the family. We’ll be hearing from them again.”
