ITV Coronation Street star says she’s ‘deeply thankful’ as she proudly displays her growing baby bump

Posted on December 18, 2025

A Coronation Street legend shared a pregnancy update on Wednesday, saying she felt “truly grateful” as she showed off her growing baby bump.

Paula Lane, who played Kylie Platt on the long-running ITV soap until the character was tragically killed off in 2016, later returned to the world of soaps in 2024 as child killer Ella Forster in Emmerdale.

Ella’s storyline also took a dark turn when she was arrested in April for spiking Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter). It was later revealed, however, that she had been framed by villain John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

Back in August, Paula announced on social media that she was expecting her third child. The actress and her husband, Tom Shaw, are already parents to Arthur, 10, and Penny, 9.

Previously, Paula shared a photo of an ultrasound alongside “best big brother” and “best big sister” cards addressed to her children. At the time, she wrote: “Some special news to share from us @sirtomshaw.”

She added: “Christmas just got a bit more magical. Our baby boy is due December 2025,” accompanied by a blue heart and rainbow emoji.

More than four months later, Paula has delighted fans with another pregnancy update. The star took to Instagram on Wednesday (December 17) to post a series of photos, including one showing off her growing baby bump.

“A little glimpse of life lately. As we prepare for a big change as a family, I’m soaking up these precious days and feeling truly grateful to have been blessed with this pregnancy. It’s flown by in the most beautiful way,” she wrote in the caption.

Paula also shared snaps from a recent audition tape, alongside photos of a birthing pool and a festive family outing to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol. The caption went on to say: “A new set of wheels @myjoolz — the wonderful @mumandme_app has been such a huge help at this stage, knowing exactly what will work best for us as a busy household.”

She added: “Our birthing pool from @gentle_births has arrived. I’ve had two home births before, both in the same room!”

Several of Paula’s former co-stars were quick to leave messages of support in the comments. Catherine Tyldesley wrote: “Gorgeous mama. You really suit pregnancy.”

Laura Norton commented: “You’re all bump — beautiful,” while Lisa George added: “So beautiful.” Meanwhile, Sophie Austin shared her excitement, writing: “Can’t wait to meet the little beauty.”

Fans also flooded the comments with praise, with one saying: “Wow, you look absolutely gorgeous and stunning. Hope you have a lovely Christmas,” and another adding: “Ahhh, you’re such a superstar and your bump is beautiful!”
