Is Sally set to exit Coronation Street? Fans worried following major soap announcement.

Posted on January 28, 2026

Coronation Street may be preparing to say goodbye to soap icon Sally Metcalfe, according to a new fan theory.

Coronation Street fans believe a surprise exit could be looming for Sally Metcalfe.

Sally, played by Sally Dynevor, first appeared on the ITV soap back in 1986 and has since cemented her status as a true soap legend, taking part in countless major storylines.

From a heartbreaking cancer diagnosis to her many turbulent relationships on the Street, Sally’s life in Weatherfield has been full of drama — particularly recently, as her marriage to Tim (Joe Duttine) has hit a rocky patch.

Earlier this week, actress Sally was presented with a bouquet of flowers on set to mark her 40 years on the show. The official Coronation Street Instagram account shared a post saying: “A huge congratulations to the wonderful Sally Dynevor on an incredible 40 years on Coronation Street!”

“You’ve given us so much happiness and countless moments of entertainment over the years. Corrie simply wouldn’t be the same without you!”

Replying to the tribute, Sally — who also regularly appears on Loose Women — wrote: “Thank you, everyone. What an amazing show to be part of, with such a wonderful cast and crew and everyone behind the scenes. Love you all xxx.”

However, after Sally’s Coronation Street anniversary, some fans have begun to suspect that the character could be heading for an exit. Commenting on the Facebook post, one person wrote: “Calling it now — she’ll be the next legend to leave after Gail,” referencing Helen Worth’s 2024 departure as Gail Platt.

Another agreed, saying: “Hmm, I thought that too.” A third added: “Yes, I’ve been thinking that for a while,” while someone else commented: “If she does go, please don’t let them kill her off!”

Sally made her debut on screen as Sally Seddon on January 27, 1986, in the memorable moment when she was drenched by Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) van.

She later fell for Kevin Webster, though their marriage eventually ended after Kevin’s affair with Molly Dobbs. Sally is now married to Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), and fans adore their relationship, particularly since they became foster parents to Joanie and Shanice Michaelis.
