Ex-Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher earns £78,000 a year by letting out a luxury cottage on his farm, with weekly rates of up to £1,500 for the three-bedroom Cheshire home.

Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher is reportedly earning an extra £78,000 a year by renting out a luxury cottage on his farm. Kelvin and his wife Liz charge up to £1,500 per week for the three-bedroom retreat.
The 42-year-old’s main income now comes from running his Peak District farm, but Stag Cottage, located on the edge of Wincle in Cheshire, provides a valuable financial boost.
Bookings for the accommodation are nearly full throughout 2026, with only a few dates still available. The stylish retreat features a hot tub, has been carefully renovated with high-quality finishes, and even includes a grand piano.
Kelvin recently shared on Instagram that they are now taking reservations for 2027. The cottage has proved extremely popular with holidaymakers.
One guest wrote on Skye Cottages: “The property was stunning, with lots of thoughtful touches for home comforts and attention to detail, making it so easy to relax!”

“The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals each evening, the living spaces were very comfortable, and the beds were even more so!”
Another guest commented: “Stunning scenery, plenty of walks and hikes nearby, and then a relaxing soak in the hot tub afterward. Make the most of this lovely cottage and make it your home.”
Kelvin and Liz have documented their countryside journey on TV shows such as Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure and Fletchers’ Family Farm. However, the star has been clear that his soap farmer persona didn’t prepare him for the realities of running a real farm.
The former Strictly contestant left his role as Andy Sugden on the ITV drama after 20 years, swapping scripts for wellies on their expansive 120-acre Peak District farm, which is home to sheep, pigs, goats, alpacas, and their four children.

But Kelvin insists that his time filming in the Yorkshire Dales for Emmerdale didn’t give him any practical “skill set” for real farming.
Speaking to OK! magazine, he said: “I wish it had. I once joked that what I know about farming could fit on the back of a stamp. I loved filming those scenes, but very rarely were they actually about farming.
“The irony is, I played a farmer for 20 years, pretending to be one, and now I actually am. It’s a bit surreal, isn’t it? But there’s no transferable skill set from that role.”
Kelvin admitted that he and Liz have faced a steep learning curve with their farm, even though they never imagined themselves in muddy boots.
He continued: “It’s been quite a journey. We’re far from experts, but we’re taking it seriously and enjoying it.
“We’ve got four children, 150 sheep, five goats, 36 pigs, three alpacas with three more arriving next week — plus a dog and a cat. Farming wasn’t something we planned, but we ended up with a few sheep and it just grew from there. People always said, ‘Farming is a way of life,’ and that really is the only way to describe it.”
