EastEnders producer Ben Wadey has confirmed that popular actor Joel Beckett will return as Alfie Moon’s cousin, Jake Moon, for a brief storyline, and viewers won’t have to wait long.

Jake Moon is set to return to EastEnders, with Joel Beckett reprising his much-loved role.
This February, Jake makes a brief comeback as he searches for the truth about last Christmas. However, he uncovers a version of events that makes him question the woman he loves, Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman).
With his conscience weighing heavily and conflicting stories to navigate, only time will reveal whether Jake will make the right choices—for himself and his family.
Reflecting on his return, Joel Beckett said: “It was wonderful to step back onto the Square after so long and reconnect with Jake. Working alongside familiar faces, as well as meeting some brilliant new ones, was such a joy. It was also reassuring to know that Jake had been out there, alive and well.”

“He comes back with a lot of unanswered questions, and the storyline takes him in unexpected directions full of twists and turns. I’m excited for viewers to see what he’s been up to,” said Joel Beckett.
Executive Producer Ben Wadey added: “I’m thrilled to have Joel Beckett return to EastEnders as Jake Moon for this storyline.
Jake’s comeback will surprise many, but the biggest shocks will come from what he uncovers about Christmas.”
Fans may recall that Joel last appeared as Jake in 2024, when the character briefly returned to Albert Square with Chrissie following her release from prison. However, Jake’s family still do not know that he is alive.
What exactly happened to Jake Moon?

Jake was first introduced to EastEnders viewers in 2004 as the cousin of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie).
During his time on the show, he featured in several storylines, primarily revolving around his tense relationships with his brother Danny Moon (Jake Maskall) and their crime boss, Johnny Allen (Billy Murray).
One of the most memorable plots came during the Get Johnny Week saga, when Jake accidentally killed Danny after discovering that his brother had murdered Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman) on Johnny’s orders.
In October 2006, Johnny summoned Jake to carry out a hit on Sean Slater after learning Sean was exploiting his daughter, Ruby Allen, for financial gain. However, Johnny suffered a heart attack before he could finish the call, only managing to whisper, “Jake… kill him for me.”

Johnny’s cellmate mistakenly believed that Johnny had ordered Jake’s death, and Johnny passed away shortly afterward in hospital.
Afterward, Jake decided to leave Walford. However, as he was walking out of Albert Square, a stranger stopped him and asked if he was Jake Moon.
Nearly 18 years later, it was revealed that Jake had survived the encounter. In 2024, he reunited with Chrissie following her release from prison.
After a brief return to Albert Square to reflect on the past, the pair drove away to start a new life together. But this time, what will bring Jake back?
