Coronation Street viewers were left stunned after a star unveiled their new look on the ITV soap.

Coronation Street fans were left distracted after a beloved cast member debuted a new look.
Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) first appeared last year as one of the teens at the Secure Training Centre (STC) alongside Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).
Following his release, it was revealed that Brody is the son of troublemakers Mick (Joe Layton) and Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty), who had recently moved to Weatherfield.
Since then, plenty of drama has unfolded, including Mick’s arrest for the drunken killing of Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). Lou was also imprisoned after attacking Gary Windass (Mikey North) when he refused to take part in her desperate scheme to extort money from him.

Brody has stayed on the cobbles after Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) took him in along with his younger sisters, Joanie and Shanice. However, in recent months, Brody has been largely absent from the soap. Actor Ryan Mulvey even admitted in October last year that he was going through “a quiet period” on the show.
He explained at the time: “As soap actors, that’s just part of it. You go from being really busy to really quiet.”
In Friday’s episode (January 30), Brody returned to screens — and it’s safe to say that some fans were left a little distracted by his appearance.

During the episode, Brody celebrated his 17th birthday with a party at Sally and Tim’s, attended by family and friends. While fans were excited to see him back, many couldn’t help but notice that Brody, usually clean-shaven, was sporting some new facial hair.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Ah, Brody’s back! He hasn’t been on in a while, has he?” Another added: “Looks like he’s grown some facial hair too.” A third wrote: “For a moment, I thought he’d been recast, didn’t recognise him.” Someone else said: “Same here, but it suits him.”

Actor Ryan joined Coronation Street last year, having previously played JJ Osbourne in Hollyoaks during the 2024–2025 sibling sexual abuse storyline. He described landing a role on the soap as a “dream come true.”
He said: “I remember when I was about six, at a swimming lesson, everyone was asked what they wanted to do when they grew up. Some said join the army or be a footballer, but I said, ‘an actor.’
“Now, it’s amazing to be waking up every day doing something I dreamed of when I was six years old!”
