Coronation Street fans watching the latest episode of Industry will have spotted a familiar face

Coronation Street star Martin Hancock made his debut on Industry in Monday’s episode.
The hit HBO and BBC One series recently returned for its fourth season, bringing back familiar faces including Myha’la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, and Sagar Radia.
Season four has also introduced new cast members, such as Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Kiernan Shipka, and The Handmaid’s Tale’s Max Minghella.
One notable debut in episode four on Monday was Coronation Street’s Martin Hancock. At 57, Martin is best known for his long-running role as Spider Nugent on the cobbles, which he began in 1997.
He was last seen in Weatherfield in 2023, where Spider had rekindled his romance with Toyah Battersby while working as an undercover police officer.
However, when forced to choose between his relationship and his career, Spider decided to remain in the police, leaving Weatherfield behind and returning down south.

In the latest episode of Industry, 57-year-old actor Martin Hancock played the role of Dez Watkins. Dez ran into Rishi Ramdani, played by Sagar Radia, and James Dycker, played by Charlie Heaton, at a pub, where he warned them that a stranger was trying to spike their drinks and steal their belongings.
The trio soon bonded at the pub, drinking and taking drugs before heading back to Rishi’s apartment for an after-party. As they continued to party, Dez kept turning up the music on the speakers.
When Dez went out to get more alcohol, the police arrived in response to a noise complaint about the loud music.
In a shocking twist, James appeared to have died from a drug overdose, leaving Rishi — who had gone to the bathroom — panicking over the apparent death and the police knocking at the door.

Fearing he would be held responsible for James’ overdose, Rishi jumped from the balcony. The episode ended with him alive but injured, trying to crawl away before being apprehended by the police.
The role was a stark contrast to Martin’s longtime character, Spider, on Coronation Street.
Since leaving the ITV soap, Martin has also appeared in Casualty in 2025, playing Samuel Jankowski.
