Coronation Street has welcomed a major star and Brassic legend in a new ITV soap role
Coronation Street viewers are set to spot a familiar face on the cobbles next week.
In forthcoming episodes, fans will be introduced to the estranged father of Shona Platt and Jodie Ramsey.
Viewers will remember that Jodie, played by newcomer Olivia Frances Brown, made her first appearance last month during the Corriedale crossover episode, where it was soon revealed that she is Shona’s long-lost sister.
Recent scenes have suggested that Jodie is keeping secrets, and she recently confronted Shona, accusing her of abandoning her with their abusive parents and claiming that she never cared about her.
In spoilers for next week, Shona, convinced that Jodie is hiding something and determined to track down their estranged father, follows her to a psychiatric hospital.
At the hospital, a tearful Jodie introduces Shona to their confused and estranged father. She goes on to explain that she was left to look after him after their mother abandoned the family.
The revelation leaves Shona emotional and deeply moved, as she reassures Jodie that she is now part of the family.
In the upcoming spoilers, Shona and Jodie’s estranged father is played by actor Steve Evets. The 66-year-old is best known for his role as Eric Bishop in the 2009 film Looking for Eric. His other credits include Colin Lambert in Rev (2010–2014), Purser in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Brooksy in Shameless, and Farmer Jim in Brassic from 2019 to 2025.
The casting comes after viewers speculated that Emmerdale’s Graham Foster could be the sisters’ father following the Corriedale crossover. In those dramatic scenes, Graham — who had returned from the dead after six years — was seen holding Jodie captive in the back of a van before she managed to escape.
At the time, viewers were quick to speculate online. One fan wrote: “Hang on… could Graham from Emmerdale be the father of Shona and Jodie in Corrie?!” with another responding: “I said that too!” A third added: “The thought had crossed my mind,” while someone else enthused: “That would be such a great storyline!” Another viewer agreed: “I thought the same thing last night.”
Elsewhere, a particularly observant fan pointed out similarities between the storylines, saying: “I was thinking that when Jodie was telling Shona about her dad locking her in a room, and then in Corriedale she was trapped in the back of Graham’s van — could there be a connection?” Another agreed, adding: “There’s definitely a link, we just don’t know what it is yet.”
However, the latest Coronation Street spoilers now appear to rule out the theory that Graham is Shona and Jodie’s father.
