A favourite Emmerdale actor has joined Coronation Street, and fans think they know what role they’ll be playing.
Coronation Street fans think they’ve uncovered the identity of Lauren Bolton’s real mum after an Emmerdale favourite joined the cast.
Kelli Hollis took to her TikTok account on Tuesday (February 3) to announce that she had secured a role on Corrie.
The 49-year-old actress first appeared on Emmerdale in 2011 as Ali Spencer, the mother of Sean (Luke Roskell) and Amelia (Daisy Campbell). Her character left the village in 2015 to move to Liverpool, but tragically, Ali was killed off-screen in a car accident in 2018.
Talking about her move to the rival soap, Kelli shared her excitement with her TikTok followers about her first day on the Corrie set. “Oh my god! What a morning! I’m at Corrie and I’m exhausted—and it’s not from working,” she said.
“I’ve already filmed two scenes this morning and have two more this afternoon. But honestly, I’m worn out from seeing everyone. The number of crew members I’ve worked with on previous projects who are here is phenomenal!”
Kelli continued: “And then there’s the cast. Our gorgeous Jane [Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie Winter]—I worked with her on Clink—she heard I was here and came running over.
“And the most handsome man ever, apart from my Martin, the stunning Aaron McClusker [who plays Ben Driscoll]. He came bounding in, picked me up, spun me around. I’ve been made to feel so welcome. What a fantastic day so far.”
It’s not yet clear who Kelli will be portraying on the soap, but many fans are speculating that she could be Lauren’s (Cait Fitton) real mother.
Corrie viewers will recall that Lauren was previously groomed by her father, Reece (Scott Anson), into a far-right extremist group.
A woman claiming to be Lauren’s mum, Kerry (Hannah Almond), appeared on the show in 2024 when Roy Cropper (David Neilson) faced accusations of murdering the teenager. “Kerry” visited the café and secretly filmed Roy’s living room, providing commentary that made him appear guilty. However, it was later revealed that this woman was not the real Kerry.
Fans have been sharing their theories that Kelli might be cast as Lauren’s real mother. One TikTok user commented, “You should be Lauren’s mum, you look so much like her.”
Another added, “She could absolutely play Lauren’s mum—they’re so alike,” while a third asked, “Have we ever seen Lauren Bolton’s mum? If not, I can definitely see you in the role; you even look like her.”
A fourth fan chimed in, “Lauren’s real mum? Please tell me you’re playing her!” and another wrote, “Definitely got something to do with Lauren!”
Meanwhile, some viewers speculate that Kelli could instead be taking on the role of Roy’s secret pen pal, Alice, who has not yet appeared, or perhaps one of Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) sisters. Could they be right?
