Coronation Street’s Kit Green, portrayed by Jacob Roberts, has caused plenty of turmoil on the cobbles, but away from the cameras, Jacob’s life is very different from his on-screen alter ego.
Jacob joined the soap last year as crooked copper Kit, who arrived in Weatherfield as Bernie Winter’s (Jane Hazlegrove) long-lost son and was quickly swept up in a series of dramatic storylines.
From uncovering the existence of his secret son, Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey), to being stabbed and left for dead, Kit’s time on the cobbles has been far from quiet.
The Weatherfield heartthrob has also been involved in several romantic plots, including a short-lived relationship with Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) before developing feelings for Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien). However, Jacob’s real-life love story is much calmer by comparison…
Jacob’s split from his long-term girlfriend
When Jacob first joined Coronation Street, he was in a long-term relationship with PR executive Amy Harris. However, the couple ended their five-year romance in October 2024, according to the Mirror.
Rumours of a split began after Jacob deleted all traces of Amy from his Instagram account, a move she later mirrored that same month, seemingly confirming their breakup.
The pair were frequently seen attending high-profile events and enjoying cosy dinners together, but the reason for their separation has not been disclosed, OK! reports.
Jacob’s new romance after meeting on set
By October this year, Jacob had gone public with his new romance, making things Instagram official with Coronation Street PR executive Caitlin Connolly. The couple, who met while working on the ITV soap, confirmed their relationship by sharing a cute selfie, topped off with a heart emoji.
At the time, a source said the pair had “been together for some time” and were “completely smitten,” adding that it had been “an open secret for a while that they were a couple.”

Since then, the couple’s romance has continued to go from strength to strength. In October, Jacob posted a loved-up snap of the pair sharing a kiss, captioning it: “My love ❤️ to the Ainsworth’s.”
Their Coronation Street co-stars were quick to show their support, flooding the comments with warm messages. Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain, wrote: “Beautiful couple,” while Maria Connor actress Samia Longchambon added: “Gorgeous pair!”
Jacob’s on-screen love interest Tina O’Brien, who plays Sarah Platt, also joined in, commenting: “Oh you two!” Lisa Swain star Vicky Myers rounded off the praise with: “Gorgeous.”
