“Coronation Street icon Beverley Callard has shared an update with fans as she gets ready to begin treatment for breast cancer, following her recent shocking announcement on TV.”

Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard has opened up about struggling to cope following her breast cancer diagnosis. The actress, best known for playing the feisty Liz McDonald, has revealed the news of her illness.
As she prepares for treatment, Beverley has been confronting her fears. In an emotional social media video, she told fans: “I am feeling quite vulnerable and scared right now. But when I was 32, I beat cervical cancer. I had a hysterectomy and was absolutely fine afterwards. So I know I can beat this… 90% of the time, I know I can beat this.”
Beverley is scheduled to return to hospital on Wednesday for an assessment, followed by surgery on Friday. She added: “I’m scared. I’m scared about how I will look.”

“I’m scared about hair loss… things like that. I’ve also lost a bit of weight, but I think it’s just stress. I’m still eating, though I have to force myself sometimes.”
Beverley received her cancer diagnosis just moments before she was due to film scenes for the Irish soap Fair City. After taking a break to cope with the news, she now wishes she were still working.
She explained: “I did think I should have stayed at work a bit longer because when I’ve got lines to learn and I’m busy, I manage things better.
“But I’m facing it, and I’m doing really well.”
The Morley-born star has been overwhelmed by messages of support from fans, which have given her a real boost. She added: “I want to say thank you for all the messages. You’ve all been amazing, and I truly appreciate your support.”

“So many people are going through this—some men, but mostly women. I want to send my love and thank you for sharing your stories. I truly, truly appreciate it.”
Beverley, who portrayed Liz on Coronation Street from 1989 to 2020, is also receiving support from her husband, Jon McEwan.
