Coronation Street viewers saw Dee-Dee Bailey and her daughter Laila depart Weatherfield for Singapore in emotional scenes shown on Friday.

Coronation Street viewers recently watched two familiar faces say goodbye to Weatherfield as they set off for a new chapter in Singapore in the latest episodes of the ITV soap.
Dee-Dee Bailey, played by Channique Sterling-Brown, and her daughter Laila Bailey, portrayed by Raiya Walton, made their final appearance during Friday’s episode (December 19), which is now available to stream on ITVX.
In emotional scenes, Dee-Dee was seen bidding an emotional farewell to her loved ones, including her father Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) and uncle Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), before climbing into a taxi with her young daughter to begin their new life abroad.
Their exit prompted an outpouring of reactions on social media, with one viewer admitting: “I know characters are always coming and going, but this one has really hit me hard.”

“I was a massive fan of Dee-Dee and thought Channique Sterling-Brown was an outstanding actress. She won the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer in 2023 and had truly cemented her place as a key member of the cast,” one viewer told the Liverpool Echo.
“Sadly, after Joel was written out, Dee-Dee’s storyline seemed to lose direction, as if the writers weren’t quite sure where to take her next.
“The adoption plot involving James felt uncomfortable and didn’t really benefit any of the characters involved. I’ll definitely miss her.”
Another fan added: “I’ll miss her too. Even though she hasn’t had much to do since the whole Joel storyline, I’ve always enjoyed her character and loved seeing her stylish outfits on screen.”

One viewer commented: “That was kept very quiet — Dee-Dee’s final episode is today. #Corrie.”
Another added: “That felt like such a low-key exit for Dee-Dee. #Corrie.”
Dee-Dee, a solicitor who has lived in Weatherfield since 2022, decided earlier this week that it was time for a new chapter after securing a new job opportunity.
During her time on the cobbles, the character was central to several major storylines — from falling pregnant by corrupt solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) to allowing her brother James Bailey (Jason Callender) to adopt her daughter Laila after struggling with motherhood.
Ultimately, Dee-Dee found it impossible to remain emotionally detached from her child, and the pair have now moved abroad to begin a fresh start on the other side of the world.
