Emmerdale has featured the return of a much-loved character just in time for Christmas, as Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden become targets of a revenge attack.
In Monday’s episode of the ITV soap (December 22), Ross Barton (Mike Parr) found himself under scrutiny when Aaron (Danny Miller) accused him of smashing the window of his car. Robert (Ryan Hawley) also became involved in the confrontation, expressing his desire to reunite with his son, Seb.
Although Ross was hesitant about Robert and Aaron seeing Seb, it was Robert who took the lead, attempting to persuade Angela, the aunt of Seb’s late mother Rebecca White, to allow him to bring his son home.

Hope emerged when Angela agreed to meet Robert and Aaron, leaving the pair overjoyed. Later, Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) reminded Ross that if he hadn’t been the one to vandalise Aaron’s car, the real culprit was still out there.
Suddenly, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) appeared from the bushes, watching his estranged husband Robert from a distance.
Earlier this year, viewers were surprised when Kev revealed himself as Robert’s prison husband, having only recently returned to the Dales in an attempt to win back Aaron.
Robert was stunned to see his secret husband again, believing he would never encounter him. Kev then revealed he was terminally ill and had only months to live, leaving Robert reeling.

While the prospect of inheriting Kev’s fortune lifted Robert’s spirits, he chose to stay in the relationship until Kev’s supposed death.
It was later revealed that Kev was not terminally ill, a fact uncovered by Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), who unwittingly became the getaway driver in Kev’s latest armed robbery.
Ultimately, Robert ended things with Kev, and following a violent confrontation, Kev left the village. Now, Kev has returned, seeking revenge, thrilling fans just in time for Christmas and the upcoming crossover with Coronation Street.

On X, one fan wrote: “That’ll be R Kev that’s back, then. Wonderful #Emmerdale.” Another posted: “Here he is… Kev’s back #Emmerdale.”
A third chimed in: “Kev’s back just in time for Christmas #Emmerdale,” accompanied by celebration emojis. “Wasn’t expecting it to be Kev #Emmerdale,” admitted another viewer.
“KEV!!! Happy Christmas!!! #Emmerdale,” exclaimed one fan, while another added: “OMG that ending scene of tonight’s #Emmerdale. Kev is back for revenge, and John is likely not far behind, ahead of the crossover.”
