Coronation Street’s Megan actress reveals what’s next for her character following a controversial storyline

Posted on December 29, 2025

Beth Nixon stars as the controversial character Megan on the long-running ITV soap Coronation Street.

A Coronation Street villain has revealed what’s next for them on the beloved ITV soap, though fans may not be pleased with the update.

Beth Nixon debuted this year as Megan, the athletics coach for young Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale). It later emerged that Megan had been grooming 16-year-old Will for months before he even appeared on the cobbles.

Their secret relationship has so far gone unnoticed, with Will’s family completely unaware of Megan’s true intentions. This includes his father Ben (Aaron McCusker), grandmother Maggie (Pauline McLynn), and his dad’s girlfriend Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley).

Megan recently moved to the cobbles herself, taking a job at Weatherfield High School. She has also started a romantic relationship with fellow teacher Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), much to Will’s annoyance and jealousy.

As expected, viewers have been horrified by the shocking grooming storyline, with Megan quickly becoming one of the most hated characters on the soap. However, it seems her reign of terror is far from over, as actress Beth Nixon has shared an update on her future in the show, according to the Mirror.

During a chat at York College last December, Beth — who hails from York — spoke about her role in Coronation Street, revealing that it is her first-ever TV job since graduating from college a few years ago.

Talking about how she landed the role, Beth explained: “Earlier this year, my agent sent me a casting brief and said it was for a paedophile, which is quite a crazy character to play because they’re obviously not redeemable, so you can really push it.”

Despite the controversial storyline, Megan isn’t going anywhere soon. Beth, who spent “years” working as a waitress, told the publication that her original six-month contract has now been extended.

Beth also spoke about raising awareness of the issue, which is sometimes romanticised in society. She said: “It sparks a lot of debate, because some people say, ‘It’s a 15-year-old boy’s dream,’ but if you look at it the other way, it’s always viewed as disgusting.

“If this storyline helps even one person realise that what’s happening to them is wrong, then it has served its purpose.”
