Amy Walsh, who stars in Emmerdale, shared devastating news on Wednesday
Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh has received an outpouring of support following a tragic loss, as she admitted that “there are no words.” The 38-year-old, who plays Tracy Robinson in the ITV soap, took to Instagram on Wednesday (January 7) to share the heartbreaking news.
Amy posted a tribute on her Instagram Story confirming the death of actor Frazer Hammill. Alongside a photo of him, she wrote: “Rest in peace you wonderful man.”
Frazer had an extensive acting career, with credits including Justice League, Last Laugh, Happy Valley and Abraham’s Point. Emmerdale viewers may also remember him from his appearance as a prison guard on the soap in 2021.
The John Godber Theatre Company announced the sad news on their official Instagram page, writing: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Frazer Hammill. It is impossible to put into words how much he will be missed by all of us who had the absolute joy of working with him,” according to The Mirror.

The Yorkshire-based theatre company went on to say: “Frazer had an incredibly kind and loving nature, along with immense talent. We are all devastated by this loss.”
Amy also shared her sorrow in the comments, writing: “There are no words,” followed by three broken heart emojis. Many others expressed their sadness too, while reminiscing about fond memories of the former youth theatre member.
One person wrote: “I’m shocked and heartbroken by this news. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones,” while another commented: “Such a gentle soul with the biggest heart. Sending love to everyone.”
Another tribute read: “He was an amazing person and performer. We’re all truly saddened to hear this,” with someone else simply adding: “Absolutely heartbroken.”
A further message said: “Such heartbreaking news. I’ll always remember his lessons and kindness. Thinking of his family and friends during this difficult time,” while another concluded: “An absolute gem of a man. A huge loss to the world. Rest in peace, Frazman.”

Amy became part of the Emmerdale cast in 2014, and her character Tracy Robinson has since been central to many memorable storylines in the village. These have included coping with the death of her father, Frank Clayton (Michael Praed), becoming involved in a controversial affair with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), and surviving last year’s horrifying limo crash.
Tracy also endured the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), who was brutally killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) in September 2024.
A disturbing flashback later revealed that John, who himself was recently killed by his sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) during this week’s Corriedale crossover, injected Nate with an unknown substance while claiming he was trying to “save” him. Sadly, Nate suffered a deadly reaction to the drug.
John then disposed of Nate’s body by dumping it from a bridge into a lake — chillingly the same spot where the earlier limo crash had taken place.
Since joining the long-running ITV soap, Amy has earned multiple award nominations for her powerful performance as Tracy. She was shortlisted for Serial Drama Performance at the 25th National Television Awards and received nominations for Best Actress at the 2021 Inside Soap Awards, as well as Best Soap Performance at the I Talk Telly Awards that same year.
