Bear’s real location revealed as Emmerdale viewers ‘rummage’ for Ray’s murderer

Posted on January 17, 2026

Police continue their hunt for Ray Walters’ killer in Emmerdale, and some fans think they’ve figured it out

Emmerdale fans believe they’ve uncovered Bear Wolf’s true location while also “rummaging out” Ray Walters’ killer. Viewers will recall that drug dealer Ray (Joe Absolom) and his sinister mother, Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths), were running multiple illegal operations in the village last year.

They coerced youngsters April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) into dealing drugs and held Bear (Joshua Richards) captive on their farm, along with several other victims.

As her criminal empire began to unravel, Celia pressured her son to kill April while she “looked after Bear.” However, Ray refused to follow his mother’s orders and ultimately stabbed her to death in their kitchen, only to meet a similar fate shortly afterward.

Ray’s body was later seen being dragged through the village, just before last week’s Corriedale crossover. While his killer has yet to be revealed, police questioned Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) earlier this week.

During Friday’s (January 16) episode, now available to stream on ITVX, all eyes were on Jai as he arrived at the Woolpack. In a tense moment, the depot worker quickly blamed April and Dylan before storming out of the pub.

Meanwhile, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) continued his search for his father, but came up empty-handed. Back at Tenant House, he received a call from his wife Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), who is in Ireland helping her cousin Tina (Samantha Power).

When Mandy offered to return home to support him, Paddy reassured her: “Mandy, you don’t need to do that, we’re good. Well, not good obviously, but we’ve got each other’s backs. We have to keep looking for [Bear], we’re going to carry on searching.”

After ending the call, Paddy struggled to hold back his emotions. Later, as April was comforted by her family, the discussion turned to theorising about Ray’s killer. Villagers began to question who was truly responsible, soon realising that everyone harbours secrets.

Some Emmerdale fans now suspect that Paddy may be hiding more than most, with theories circulating that he could have killed Ray during a recent absence from the village. Others believe Bear might still be alive, possibly keeping a low profile in Ireland with Mandy.

“I find it suspicious that Paddy was supposedly away on a training course for so long on the day everything went down. Hopefully it wasn’t just a course – maybe he was taking Bear to be with Mandy and then returned to kill Ray,” one fan wrote on a Facebook page.

Another added: “I definitely like this theory,” while a third chimed in: “Me too!”

A fourth fan agreed, saying: “Great idea… let’s hope that’s the case. It would be satisfying for Paddy to get revenge for what Ray and Celia did to Bear. And surely Bear isn’t dead – they can’t have killed him off-screen.”

Emmerdale is set to dedicate next week’s episodes to Ray’s mysterious death, with each instalment featuring flashbacks from the day he was killed, revealing what each suspect was really doing. Who is the true culprit?
