Coleen Nolan sparks suspicion among Loose Women co-stars with harsh remark about friendship

Posted on January 14, 2026

Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan voiced her blunt opinion on platonic friendships, leaving fellow ITV star and friend Kaye Adams unsettled

Loose Women’s Kaye Adams has been left “stunned” by her co-star Coleen Nolan’s unfiltered take on friendships. On the latest episode of the show’s Just Between Us podcast, Coleen admitted she prefers the company of men over women.

Talking about platonic relationships across genders, the 60-year-old confessed: “I’d say most of my friends… I have better, more relaxed relationships with male friends.”

Kaye, taken aback by the comment—especially given their all-female panel—said she felt “suspicious” of her friend.

“Women who get on better with men, what’s gone on?” she asked Coleen.

Coleen didn’t hesitate with her reply: “Because women are b*tches.”

Clearly shocked, Kaye gasped: “How can you say that?”

Coleen doubled down: “Women are b*tches, it’s really simple, I just said it twice.”

Referencing their roles on Loose Women, Kaye joked: “Welcome to the all-female panel show.”

Explaining her preference for male company, Coleen said: “I think men are non-judgemental. I can have a laugh with men, we don’t gossip, we just enjoy ourselves.

“Sometimes when I’m with women, which I love, when my girlfriends come round, it’s different—it has a different vibe than being out with the lads.”

Still surprised by her admission, Kaye replied: “For once, I am genuinely gobsmacked at you saying that. I really am.”

When Coleen urged Kaye to “admit” she felt the same, her co-host clarified: “I think it was the word you used that bothered me—‘b*tches’. I don’t like that word; it has negative connotations. But I do agree that women are more likely to dissect a situation and analyse it.”

In the same episode, the Scottish presenter was shocked by another revelation from Coleen. The mum-of-three revealed she maintains a friendly relationship with her ex-husband, Ray Fensome, even to the point where he sometimes stays over at her home.

“We’ve been at my house alone, and we’ve both said ‘goodnight,’ and he’s gone into the spare room,” she admitted, adding: “He’s like a best mate now.”

The former couple, who share a daughter, Ciara, were married for 11 years before splitting in 2018.

Coleen was also previously married to EastEnders actor Shane Richie, with whom she has two sons, Shane Richie Jr. and Jake Roche.

In a recent conversation with their eldest son, Coleen opened up about their past relationship. “I think I stayed two years longer than I should have,” she confessed on her YouTube channel.

“Because of you and Jake. I had this real worry about ‘my kids growing up in a broken home.’”

After speaking with a therapist, Coleen realised she needed to step back from the marriage, which ultimately ended in 1999.
