Coronation Street: Abi’s new cobbles romance ‘revealed’ after Carl ‘split’

Posted on December 30, 2025

Abi Webster looks set for a new romance after learning of Carl’s betrayal on Coronation Street

Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out Abi Webster’s next love interest on the cobbles.
Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine), who first appeared on the ITV soap in 2017, has endured a turbulent and emotional year.
Alongside her husband Kevin (Michael Le Vell) being diagnosed with testicular cancer, his estranged brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) returned to Weatherfield after spending years living in Germany.
It didn’t take long for Carl to stir up trouble, as Abi found herself developing feelings for her brother-in-law despite trying to resist them. Eventually, the pair gave in to temptation and began an affair.

The truth about Carl and Abi eventually came to light, leaving Kevin heartbroken. Although Abi gave up everything to be with Carl, she was unaware that he had also been sleeping with James Bailey (Jason Callender).
On top of that, Carl had been involved in shady car theft schemes, which resulted in Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) suffering serious injuries after being struck by a stolen vehicle.

Clearly unwilling to commit to Abi, Carl was back with James last week, and when Abi found James’ necklace on the sofa, her suspicions were raised.
After accessing Carl’s phone, Abi was left devastated when she discovered explicit messages between Carl and James, confirming that he had been cheating on her.

In Monday’s episode (December 29), Abi didn’t reveal to Carl that she knew the truth and instead coolly told him she was heading out to the Boxing Day sales. However, she actually went to confide in Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), breaking down in tears over Carl’s betrayal.
With Abi and Carl seemingly heading for a split, fans have already claimed they’ve worked out who her next love interest could be. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, many believe Abi could reunite with Kevin.

One fan commented: “How long until Kevin and Abi get back together?” Another added: “I thought that as soon as she found out about James — she’ll go running back.” A third agreed, writing: “100%.”
