Sherrie Hewson had to pull out of Vanessa Feltz’s Channel 5 show on Monday after coming down with a winter illness.
Former Coronation Street star Sherrie Hewson was forced to cancel her scheduled appearance on Vanessa Feltz’s Channel 5 show on Monday (05.01.26) after being struck down by a winter bug.
The 75-year-old, who recently campaigned for the return of a popular show, had been set to appear on the daytime chat show to discuss her new podcast, Very Very Sherrie, as well as reflect on her career and other topics.
However, the former Loose Women panellist fell ill that morning. Despite her efforts to make the trip, her condition worsened, and she was forced to return home before even reaching the studio.
A source told BANG Showbiz:
“Sherrie was absolutely gutted to let the show down and is now focusing on her recovery. She’ll be tucked up in bed, getting plenty of rest to fight off the bug. She hopes Vanessa will invite her back once she’s fully recovered.”
Sherrie launched her Very Very Sherrie podcast in late 2025, available on all major platforms. The series features candid conversations with celebrity guests and offers personal insights into her career and private life, according to the Express.

Recently, Sherrie Hewson revealed she is “hoping desperately” for a revival of Benidorm.
She portrayed Solana hotel manager Joyce Temple-Savage in the ITV sitcom from 2012 until its conclusion in 2018, and remains optimistic that discussions about bringing back the Spain-set series will come to fruition.
Sherrie said:
“We are all campaigning for it to come back. We are hoping desperately that it comes back, and we’d love it because we’d get to go back to Benidorm.
“I love the character Joyce Temple-Savage. Derren Litten wrote that role, and I think it’s one of the best characters I’ve ever played. I would love for it to return. We’ll see—watch this space.”

“There isn’t a comedy on ITV at the moment, so it really needs Benidorm to come back. I’m waiting to hear and I’d catch the plane today,” Sherrie Hewson added.
Back in April 2025, Benidorm creator Derren Litten confirmed he was in talks with ITV about the possibility of a new series.
The comedy writer said:
“If I say ITV have not commissioned a new Benidorm series, it’s because, up to today, they haven’t. Does that mean they might commission a new series in the near future? Possibly.
“Have I been speaking with ITV in the last few months? Yes, I have. Have they commissioned a special or a series at the moment? No. Might they in the next few weeks or months? Yeah, they might. They might.
“So I hope that gives you some hope, and an idea of where we currently stand.”
