“Coronation Street actress Tanisha Gorey, known for her role as Asha Alahan, has shared a heartwarming Instagram post announcing her engagement to boyfriend Lucas Whelan.”

ITV’s Coronation Street actress Tanisha Gorey has announced her engagement to her low-key boyfriend, admitting she’s “still crying” with happiness.
The 24-year-old star, who has played Asha Alahan since joining the cobbles in December 2009 as Dev and Sunita’s daughter, has grown up on screen alongside her on-screen twin brother, Aadi.
In recent months, Asha has faced some particularly intense storylines while training to become a paramedic. Her character was involved in the tragic deaths of Craig Tinker and Mason Radcliffe, including a harrowing scene confronting Hope Stape over her role in delaying the ambulance that might have saved Mason. Asha also appeared in the recent ITV soap crossover, Corriedale.
Off-screen, Tanisha keeps her personal life largely private, though she occasionally shares glimpses of her relationship with Lucas Whelan, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Although Tanisha has generally kept her relationship out of the public eye, she first confirmed it on her 18th birthday. The couple later marked another milestone in 2022 when they purchased their first home together.
On Saturday (January 17), Tanisha took to Instagram to share a series of romantic photos announcing her engagement.
One photo showed a heart-shaped cake with the words “just engaged,” while another captured the smiling couple as Tanisha proudly displayed her sparkling engagement ring. Alongside the images, she wrote excitedly: “brb still crying.” Her Coronation Street co-stars were quick to flood the comments with messages of love and congratulations.
Tony Maudsley joked: “Babes, I’m really made up for you… BUT I don’t think I got a bit of cake? ? ?” while Cait Fitton added: “whattt? ? ? !! Omgggg I’m so happy for you both! Congrats to you and Lucas.”

Vicky Myers wrote, “Congratulations to you both. What fabulous news xxx,” while Daniel Brocklebank, who recently departed Weatherfield following his character’s exit in Corriedale, added, “Ahhhhhhh congratulations darling!”
Tanisha was also one of 40 cast members to take part in the special one-night-only crossover between Coronation Street and Emmerdale, celebrating ITV’s new “soap power hour.”
On-screen, Asha struggled with PTSD and anxiety as she rushed to help the victims at the scene, including Todd Grimshaw and Carl Webster.
