Coronation Street may be set to welcome back a soap legend in a major twist for Carla Connor and Lisa Swain.
Carla (Alison King) and Lisa (Vicky Myers) began their romance in 2024, but their love story on the cobbles has been far from smooth.
From Carla’s health struggles and the return of her murderous brother Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss), to the pressures of Lisa’s career, the couple has faced plenty of obstacles.
Adding to the drama, shortly after their engagement last year, Lisa’s supposedly deceased wife Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) reappeared, throwing everything into chaos.
Becky, a police officer, was believed to have been killed in the line of duty in 2021, but she had actually survived and entered witness protection after an undercover operation went wrong.
Villainous Becky was intent on reclaiming her family — including Lisa and daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) — at any cost. Not only did she try to persuade them to begin a new life abroad with her, but she also drugged and kidnapped Carla, holding her captive.
Thankfully, Becky’s schemes were uncovered, and the full story emerged during last month’s dramatic Corriedale episode. Facing justice, Becky was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Lisa and Betsy severed all ties with her.
With Becky now out of the picture, Carla and Lisa have reignited their romance. In Monday’s episode (February 16), an enthusiastic Carla asked Lisa to check if they could hold their wedding at the Chariot Square Hotel on April 23rd. Lisa agreed, and the couple were thrilled to finally set the date.
However, with the wedding locked in, fans are speculating that a surprise return may be on the horizon. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers suggested that Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) could be making a comeback.
“Bring Peter back for Carla’s wedding,” urged one fan. Another added: “Yes, come on Peter!” A third commented: “I think so too — can see him trying to stop it.” Someone else wrote: “I’d love this — I think Carla is better off with Pete.”
Fans will remember that Peter, the son of soap icon Ken Barlow (William Roache), has been at the centre of numerous major storylines. These included his turbulent relationship with Carla Connor (Alison King), marked by infidelity, lies, addiction, and heartbreak over the years. However, in 2023, Peter left the cobbles to start a new life abroad after yet another split from Carla.
