Cait Fitton is recognized for her role as Lauren Bolton on the ITV soap.
Since 2022, ITV viewers have watched Cait Fitton make waves in Weatherfield, debuting on the cobbles as Lauren Bolton.
Over the years, the Coronation Street actress has been at the centre of some of the soap’s most intense storylines. The 23-year-old has faced a grooming plot, faked her own death, been involved with an extremist group, concealed a pregnancy, and played a key role in a 2024 murder investigation. More recently, fans are convinced a DNA twist is coming.
Off-screen, Cait keeps her followers updated on her personal life, sharing snapshots from holidays with her partner and moments with close friend and co-star Sydney Martin.
This week, however, Cait shared a deeply sad update, revealing the recent passing of her grandad.

Sharing a series of black-and-white photos with her grandad on Instagram Stories, the ITV actress paid a heartfelt tribute to him on what would have been his birthday.
She wrote: “Happy heavenly birthday to my best buddy. It’s been just over a week since you left us… and I’m still trying to navigate how to get through this without you. Hope you are dancing up there with gran.”
Cait’s emotional update comes shortly after Coronation Street fans learned that former soap actress Sheila Bernette had passed away at the age of 94.

In the early 1970s, Sheila Bernette played Sister Delaney, who tended to Weatherfield icon Elsie Tanner (Pat Phoenix) after she was hit by a taxi.
The Royal Variety Charity released a statement saying: “Sheila will be very much missed by many of those who worked with her and by members of the wider theatrical family.”
Tributes soon poured in for the late actress, who also appeared in shows such as The Good Old Days and the 1960 period drama Sons and Lovers.

Actor Peter Kosta remembered Sheila as a “very good friend” and described her as “just fun and laughter.” Speaking to the Press Association, he recalled: “I was looking for digs, and she said, ‘Well, if you’re clean, I have a spare room in my house.’
He added: “She always supported me in everything I wanted to do and came to see me whenever she could. I have extremely fond memories of her.”
