Former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has spoken candidly for the first time about the end of her marriage. The 34-year-old actress was reported to have split from her husband, musician Kris Evans, in July last year.
During a recent Q&A with her devoted followers, Georgia addressed her relationship status directly, confirming: “I am single.”
Last year, she sparked speculation after removing her wedding ring and deleting all Instagram photos featuring Kris, whom she had previously described as her “best friend,” including cherished images from their wedding day.
At the time, a source told The Sun that the couple’s relationship appeared to have broken down, saying the marriage was “on the rocks.” The insider added that Georgia was focused on moving forward and was being supported by close friends and family.
It later emerged that the pair were still living together in their shared home, according to reports by the Mirror.
A separate source said Georgia had faced a difficult period, which had understandably placed pressure on her marriage. The insider revealed that after the devastating fire earlier this year, Georgia confided in friends that she was keen for a fresh start and was uncertain about where Kris fit into her future. However, the couple were said to remain on amicable terms, allowing them to continue living under the same roof.
Looking back on what she described as a tough year, Georgia expressed her desire to move on from 2025 and turn her attention to the year ahead.
Alongside a collection of photos and video clips, the soap star made a heartfelt admission, writing: “This has honestly been the worst year of my life. I couldn’t catch a break, and I’m so grateful for my friends and family. I know how bad this year was because there wasn’t even a single happy moment I felt able to post about.”
Reflecting on the images she shared — which included time spent with her dog and moments from her pantomime work — Georgia added: “These are some of the small things that brought me joy in the midst of everything.
(Not the fire, obviously). And don’t worry, running will get its own post, because without it I’m not sure where I’d be.”
Georgia and Kris tied the knot in 2023 at a rustic, log-cabin-style venue, two years after announcing their engagement. Kris proposed on New Year’s Eve in 2021.
Ahead of their wedding, Georgia shared her excitement on social media, posting a photo from her hen party. She wrote: “I’m about to marry my best friend — the person who makes me a better person. Here’s to my final month as a Foote.”
Georgia is best known for playing Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street between 2010 and 2015. In the same year she left the soap, she competed on Strictly Come Dancing, making it all the way to the final and finishing as runner-up with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.
