Soap fans believe Coronation Street’s Shona Platt may be heading for a tragic exit in a devastating twist

Coronation Street viewers are worried that Shona Platt could be facing a tragic end.
Shona, played by Julia Goulding, has been a fan favourite since she first appeared in 2016 and has been central to many major storylines over the years. From suffering a brain injury to narrowly escaping being killed by her own son, her life in Weatherfield has been full of turmoil. She also became part of the famous Platt family after marrying David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) in 2019.
More recently, Shona has been pushed to her limits once again. She was caught up in the devastating car crash during the Corrie–Emmerdale crossover episode and was later forced to undergo complex surgery in a bid to save her unborn baby, leaving fans fearing the worst for her future.

Things took another dramatic turn when Shona’s estranged half-sister, Jodie (Olivia Frances Brown), arrived at the hospital hoping to rebuild her relationship with Shona.
It’s apparent that Jodie—who was also involved in the car crash alongside Shona—is keeping a big secret. She first appeared on screen during the Corriedale episode, having escaped after being held captive in the back of a van by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster.
This week, Jodie suffered a panic attack after missing several calls from an unknown person. David quickly noticed her distress and, seeing that she had nowhere else to go, offered her a place to stay at number eight with him and Shona.

In Wednesday’s (January 14) episode, Shona returned home from the hospital to find Jodie settling in. However, she soon spotted a bruise on Jodie’s arm.
When asked about it, Jodie claimed it came from a man she had been seeing, but it quickly became evident she wasn’t telling the whole story. With tension building, fans are now speculating that a shocking death twist could be coming for Shona.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Not sure if I trust Jodie or not? What are other people’s thoughts?” Another added: “She seems dodgy to me.”

A third fan added: “Maybe she’s going to kill Shona?” Another replied: “That was my thought too.” A fifth wrote: “That would be heartbreaking for David.”
Meanwhile, speaking about Jodie on Coronation Street, producer Kate Brooks explained that they felt it was the right moment to “explore and unpack a bit of Shona’s backstory, and that’s where Jodie comes into the picture.”
She added: “She’s a complex character carrying a lot of baggage, and their relationship as sisters is quite tense. They have a long history together, with some deep-seated resentment, but they do love each other.”
