Coronation Street’s Jodie Star Gets Support From Famous Fiancé After Her Debut

Posted on January 14, 2026

Coronation Street actress Olivia Frances Brown, who portrays Shona’s sister Jodie, is supported by her actor fiancé James Nelson-Joyce

Coronation Street’s newest arrival, Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie, has received support from her well-known partner.

The actress made her debut during last week’s action-packed Corriedale crossover episode. At first, her character’s identity was a mystery, with viewers seeing her escape after being locked in the back of a van by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster.

After being rescued by officers and receiving urgent hospital care, Jodie arrived in Weatherfield and dramatically revealed herself as Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) long-lost sister — shocking both Shona and David (Jack P. Shepherd).

This week, concerns arose when Jodie was seen ignoring multiple phone calls before experiencing a panic attack. David witnessed the alarming episode and, learning that she had nowhere else to turn, offered her a place to stay with him and Shona at number eight.

Liverpool-born actress and singer-songwriter Olivia Frances Brown, now based in Manchester, brings the character of Jodie to life. Her previous credits include Channel 4’s The Gathering, as well as roles in Archie and Boiling Point, reports the Mirror.

Olivia boasts an impressive Instagram following of 18K, with her bio charmingly stating: “probably singing jazz standards somewhere.”

It has also emerged that she is engaged to a well-known partner. The soap star is set to marry James Nelson-Joyce, known for his role in This City Is Ours.

The couple, who have been together for several years, announced their engagement in a joint statement back in 2023.

James Nelson-Joyce is best known for his role as Michael Kavanagh in This City Is Ours. His acting credits also include appearances in Mount Pleasant, Little Boy Blue, The Nest, Time, The Outlaws, Industry, The Gold, and A Town Called Malice.

Recently, James showed his support for Olivia following her Coronation Street debut. On Tuesday (January 13), he reshared a feature about Olivia’s new character, tagging her and adding a string of heart emojis.

In other news, Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks recently discussed Jodie’s role on the soap, explaining that the character was introduced to “explore and unpack a bit of Shona’s backstory, and that’s where Jodie comes into the picture.”

She continued: “She’s a complicated character and comes with a lot of baggage, shall we say, and their relationship as sisters is quite fraught. They have a lot of history between them, there’s some deep-seated resentment, but at the same time, they love each other.”
