Kym Marsh takes to Instagram to post an emotional tribute

Former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has received an outpouring of support following a tragic loss. The 49-year-old actress is best known for playing Rovers Return landlady Michelle Connor on the hit ITV soap from 2006 to 2019.

During her time on the cobbles, Michelle was at the center of several memorable storylines, including her relationship with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), the death of her brother Paul (Sean Gallagher), and the murder of her other brother Liam (Rob James-Collier).

Kym, who now occasionally presents BBC’s Morning Live, endured a heartbreaking loss in 2024 when her father, David, passed away at the age of 78 after a “long battle with prostate cancer.”

On Monday (January 12), Kym marked the second anniversary of her father’s death by sharing a heartfelt tribute on social media, according to the Mirror.

Alongside a smiling photo of herself with her beloved father, Kym wrote:
“Two years since you left us, Dad. We miss you every day. Life will never be the same without you.
What I would give for one more cuddle, one of your silly jokes, or to hear your voice. I love you so very much, poppa bear. I hope I’m making you proud. Always your shadow, Dad.”

The star also shared more family photos on her Instagram Story, adding: “Oh, how I miss you, Daddy… My heart hurts.”

Several of Kym’s famous friends left messages of support in the comments. Loose Women star Myleene Klass wrote: “Legend of a man.” Blue singer Duncan James added: “[Your] dad was such an amazing man. Have some lovely memories of him when we lived next door to you.” Meanwhile, Coronation Street star Sally Carman-Duttine shared multiple heart emojis.

Several fans also shared messages of support, with one writing: “Thinking of you today, sending love. I lost my mum a year ago, so hard.” Another commented: “Sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is on a different level! Lost my old man last April. Hurts so much!” A third added: “Sending so much love. Your dad would be so proud of you. He will be watching over you.”

This comes just weeks after Kym became a grandmother again. Her daughter, Emilie Cunliffe, welcomed her second child—and Kym’s fourth grandchild—on Christmas Day.

Kym celebrated the arrival on Instagram, revealing the baby’s name: “Well, what a wonderful Christmas gift this is!! Welcome to the world Bobby Saint Mykola Hoszowskyj!!! He’s so beautiful!”
