“EastEnders has provided an update on Sharon Watts amid the ongoing fallout from Christmas Day.”

EastEnders has shared a fresh update on Sharon Watts, as the Walford favourite continues to remain notably absent from the square.
During the BBC soap’s Christmas Day special, Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey) was found dead, leading to the arrest of his former flame Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), who insists she is innocent.
The GP was discovered lifeless on the upper floors of the Queen Vic following a heated argument with Zoe over their twins, who had been placed for adoption at birth.
Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) remains convinced her daughter has been framed for murder, pointing instead to Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) as the true culprit, particularly since her return coincided with Anthony’s death.

Scheming Chrissie and Zoe share a bitter past, stemming from their involvement in Dennis Watts’ (Leslie Grantham) murder and the subsequent cover-up in 2005, which also implicated Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf), according to OK!.
Last September, Sharon (Letitia Dean) spent a week in jail after being held in contempt of court during proceedings related to Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder.
While in custody, she came face-to-face with Chrissie, her former stepmother, marking their first conversation in nearly twenty years.
What seemed to be a heartfelt reconciliation saw Sharon appear to forgive Chrissie for killing her father, Den, only for Sharon to discover that Chrissie’s compassion was a ruse—she had secretly arranged for another inmate to “teach her a lesson.”

Amid the chaos of prison life, Sharon found an unexpected ally in her cellmate Doreen (Sonia Ritter). When Sharon became the target of a violent inmate, Chrissie intervened, pretending to protect her.
Believing that Chrissie genuinely cared for her, Sharon stayed out of trouble and threw herself into chores with Doreen, the two forming an unlikely but endearing bond.
Fast-forward to the present, and Kat is determined to prove that Chrissie is Anthony’s killer, with Sharon seemingly now aiding in the pursuit.
This Monday (January 5), Sharon arranged for Kat and Sam to visit Doreen in the hope of uncovering Chrissie’s possible whereabouts. Meanwhile, Kat grew concerned about Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), who had become obsessed with solving Anthony’s murder, even going so far as to create a crime board in her lounge.

Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) kept a close eye on Jean, worried about her declining mental state, but was unable to stop her obsessive focus.
Alfie told Kat: “Anyway, Sam’s getting a cab that Sharon booked to visit this ex-con friend of hers.”
Kat replied, “Dor?” Alfie continued: “Exactly. And if Dor knows where Chrissie is hiding, you need to get every detail.”
“I feel like I’m chasing shadows,” Kat admitted, just as Jean interrupted their conversation.
Later, as Kat prepared to leave in her taxi, Jasmine tried to convince her to stay in Walford: “Kat, are you sure about this? I don’t think you should go,” she pleaded with her grandmother.

Jasmine continued: “Just because Sharon’s friend gave you a hotel name doesn’t mean it’s correct. Corfu isn’t exactly a tiny island, Kat, okay?”
Kat replied: “I know, and I’m probably wasting my time, but we have to find Chrissie, don’t we?”
With Sharon enlisting Dor to help track down Chrissie, could this signal a return for her after months away from Walford?
EastEnders fans were heartbroken in October 2025 when it was revealed that Sharon would be leaving Walford again, just weeks after her highly anticipated comeback.

The long-running BBC drama left viewers stunned as Sharon announced her plans to return to Florida to reunite with her close friend, Michelle Fowler, following a devastating betrayal.
Her departure came after the shocking revelation that Zoe had lied about having children fathered by Sharon’s late husband, Dennis Rickman.
Sharon had only recently returned to Albert Square in September after spending several months in the United States.
She had hoped to mend relationships with her loved ones, only to be blindsided by Zoe’s return and her claim that Dennis was the father of her children.
