Former EastEnders Villain Gray Atkins Actor Toby-Alexander Smith Receives Outpouring of Support After Career News
Former EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith has secured a new acting role nearly four years after leaving the BBC One soap.
The 34-year-old became infamous for his portrayal of Albert Square’s villainous Gray Atkins, a role he played from 2019 to 2022, culminating in a dramatic finale where the serial killer was finally caught.
Gray spent months concealing his horrific crimes, including the murders of his wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer), Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White), and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami), while also abusing his second wife, Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams).
However, his dark deeds could not remain hidden forever, and he was ultimately brought to justice after Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) exposed his true nature.

“Consider it payback for Kush,” Gray told a shocked Whitney as his world unraveled. “That’s right, I killed him too. I pushed him under that train,” reports OK!.
Since leaving the BBC drama, Toby-Alexander Smith has appeared in period productions such as An American in Austen and Love Across Time.
The actor is also married to Emmerdale star Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy Robinson on the ITV soap. The couple have a daughter, Bonnie, and are expecting their second child.
On Tuesday (January 13), Toby-Alexander Smith revealed that he is starring in the new feature film A Murder Between Friends, which also stars Dynasty legend Joan Collins. The movie is now available to stream across the United States.
The Agatha Christie-inspired whodunit follows six friends who travel to the countryside retreat of a famous true crime TV personality for a getaway.
Unsurprisingly, they are shocked to discover that one of their group has been murdered. With suspicion cast on everyone, they must figure out which among them had the means, motive, and opportunity to commit the crime.

Sharing several images from the production, Toby-Alexander Smith wrote: “Tonight’s the night. A Murder Between Friends is streaming on all platforms in the US.”
His wife, Amy Walsh, quickly reshared the post to her own Instagram Story, adding: “How exciting.”
The announcement also attracted praise from friends and fans. One commented: “Awesome,” while another wrote: “Great” with a heart-eyes emoji.
A third supporter added: “Go on, Tobes,” while another said: “You AND @jacob_w_young??? I’m sold. As a lifelong EastEnders and All My Children fan, this has me so excited!!!!”
