“Former soap star Alex Ferns looks completely different from his EastEnders character as he appears in the new BBC One series Waiting for the Out.”
Former soap actor Alex Ferns is barely recognisable compared to his days playing EastEnders’ villain Trevor Morgan.
BBC One viewers were left stunned when Trevor made his chilling debut on Albert Square in 2000, subjecting his timid wife, Little Mo Harris (Kacey Ainsworth)—Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) sister—to a terrifying cycle of domestic abuse.
One particularly harrowing scene saw Trevor lose his temper after Mo returned home late for their Christmas dinner. As a frightened Mo sat at the dining table, Trevor cruelly pressed her face into the plate of turkey.
The abusive relationship reached a peak a week later when he turned up at Pauline Fowler’s (Wendy Richard) house, pretending to be remorseful and begging Mo for forgiveness.
However, Trevor’s apology was a ruse, and he later tried to rape his terrified wife in another violent outburst, reports OK!.

In a desperate act of self-defence, Little Mo grabbed an iron and struck Trevor over the head, believing she had killed him.
Panicked, she ran home for help, but when she and her sisters returned, Trevor’s body was gone.
The villain had managed to drag himself into a nearby alley and later accused his wife of attempted murder.
Little Mo was put on trial and found guilty, though her conviction was eventually overturned. In 2002, Trevor met a grisly fate when he became trapped in a fire he had started.

After his dramatic exit from EastEnders, Alex Ferns continued to follow his acting career, taking on roles in a number of television series, including The Devil’s House, Nightsleeper, River City, The Irregulars, and Danny Boy.
His film credits are equally notable, featuring major productions such as The Legend of Tarzan, Romans, Wrath of Man, and most recently, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.
Now 57, Alex stars in the new prison drama Waiting For The Out, which follows the story of a man teaching philosophy to inmates.
The series centres on Dan (played by Josh Finan), a philosopher who begins teaching a group of men in prison.

However, he starts to worry that he could end up behind bars himself, reflecting on his past and the fact that three important men in his life—his father, brother, and uncle—have all served time.
During his visits to the prison, he leads discussions on topics such as dominance, freedom, and luck, which take on new significance when seen through the prisoners’ eyes.
While teaching the inmates, Dan begins to explore his own past more deeply and starts questioning whether he truly belongs behind bars, just as his father once did.

Alex plays a prison inmate named Keith in the new series, sporting a full head of grey hair and a thick, matching beard.
Waiting For The Out was created by acclaimed writer Dennis Kelly and is adapted from Andy West’s memoir, The Life Inside.
The supporting cast features Alex as Dan’s father, Stephen Wight as his brother Lee, and Phil Daniels as his uncle Frank. Samantha Spiro plays Dan’s mother, while Francis Lovehall portrays Dris, a prisoner serving time for aggravated assault.
