EastEnders dropped a Christmas shock as a soap legend made a surprise return to Walford 21 years after their debut

EastEnders has revealed a shock return alongside the identity of the person tormenting Zoe Slater. Soap icon Zoe (Michelle Ryan) made her comeback to the BBC One drama earlier this year after being away for nearly two decades, only to find herself targeted by a relentless stalker.
Zoe has been left shaken and frightened after receiving a string of threatening messages, including a disturbing note at the Christmas lights switch-on telling her to “die”.
As if that wasn’t enough, Zoe has also spent months searching for her long-lost son. She secretly gave birth to twins in 2006, fathered by Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), adding further emotional strain to her already troubled return.

Anthony’s actions have raised eyebrows, with it emerging that his own wife previously took out a restraining order against him. He also seems obsessively focused on Zoe, having stockpiled countless photos of his ex on his laptop, according to reports from OK!.
Meanwhile, unknown to Zoe, her daughter is actually Jasmine (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness), a recent arrival in Walford who has kept her real identity secret despite forming a close bond with her.

In Wednesday’s tense episode (December 24), Zoe’s stalker was finally revealed – and it wasn’t who anyone expected. Jasmine was seen prowling near the Queen Vic before making a phone call, insisting on a secret meeting.
At the same time, Zoe was left both shocked and overjoyed after finding a letter, supposedly from her long-lost son, announcing he would be arriving on Christmas Day.
Shortly afterward, Jasmine was spotted getting into a car tucked away in a back alley. Speaking to the unseen driver, she said: “I’ve done everything you asked me to, but I’ve changed my mind. I don’t think she deserves this.”

The story took an even darker turn when it was revealed that the driver—and Zoe’s tormentor—was none other than Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman). She chillingly told Jasmine: “Oh, believe me, she does. We’re going to give her a Christmas she’ll never forget.”
Long-time viewers will recall Chrissie’s debut on the soap in 2004. As Dirty Den’s (Leslie Grantham) wife, she quickly became a fan favourite, appearing in 218 episodes.
During her tenure on the show, Chrissie served as landlady of the Queen Vic and featured in numerous major storylines. However, she is perhaps best remembered for murdering her husband Den, a plot that also involved Zoe and Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf).
