Fans of Emmerdale have been left anxious over the fate of one much-loved villager.

Emmerdale viewers were left worried for a popular ITV soap favourite during Friday’s episode.
Warning: This article contains spoilers from Friday’s episode, now available on ITVX.
Earlier in the week, a struggling Sam Dingle asked for his job back after being sacked for stealing Christmas trees in an attempt to earn extra money.
Although he was taken back on, Sam immediately quit, believing Moira Dingle would offer him work at Butler’s Farm. He was soon forced to face reality when no job materialised, and with household bills piling up, Sam returned to Home Farm to ask for his role back.
Joe Tate appeared to enjoy making Sam feel uncomfortable, but Kim Tate quickly stepped in, reminding him that Sam and his wife Lydia Dingle are like family. Sam was then reinstated.
However, Lydia soon began to question her loyalty to Kim after receiving a disappointing raffle donation and witnessing Joe’s treatment of her husband.
Desperate to make some extra cash, Sam later arranged an illegal shoot on Home Farm land without Kim’s knowledge. Lydia agreed to help by distracting Kim at the Christmas Fayre, unaware that Kim had planned a surprise visit for Lydia from Jason Donovan.

At the shoot, Lydia was put under pressure to keep the secret, while Kim demanded she attend the Fayre and Oliver’s shooting party expected food to be provided.
Things quickly escalated when Sam feared that Vanessa Woodfield had witnessed the illegal shoot. His concerns were soon confirmed when Vanessa informed Kim, prompting her to return to Home Farm to investigate the situation herself.
In a dramatic turn of events, Kim was later found seriously injured in the woods after riding her horse to look into the shoot. She was unable to move her leg and eventually lost consciousness.
Later in Friday’s episode, a worried family — along with a guilt-ridden Lydia — discovered Kim after realising she had gone missing.

After being rushed to hospital, Dawn Fletcher updated a guilt-ridden Lydia and a worried Sam, explaining that Kim’s beloved horse, Ice, had a homemade snare embedded in its leg, causing extensive damage. She revealed that the police were going to be involved.
At the end of the episode, viewers were given another update on Kim’s condition. Dawn said, “There’s just been so much damage…” to which Joe added, “She’s far from in the clear.”
Dawn went on to explain, “They’re just talking about the tissue and blood supply,” warning that if Kim doesn’t show improvement, “she’s going to lose her leg.” The burning question remains: will Lydia admit that she and Sam were behind the shoot?
